Depends what the bit rate is, how good your hearing is and how good your speakers are.. I have a hard time hearing any degrade on anything over 192 kbps. I usually import at 256 kbps to be safe.
I prefer FLAC, because its SEEMLESS, and i think thats the ONLY way to listen to concert bootlegs. I can't stand to listen to MP3 bootleg concerts, with those GAPS between songs.

i listen to alot of boots on my ipod and don't notice any gaps, although i do recall having gaps when i burned them to cd.

I don't know about IPODS, as i don't own one(I've been thinking about getting one). Yea, when i burn MP3's to CD, ther are gaps.

Most burning programmes (itunes included) have the gap "on" as default. You can get rid of it in the settings page normally!
Either way, you should get FLAC because the sound quality pisses all over the mp3 ones.
