yes it is. I just got back from Backspacer Bash at Easy Street in West Seattle. It was craziness to say the least..a ton of prizes that were randomly drawn while blasting the new album. The owner, Matt Vaughan, came out right before the onsale & read from his phone a text from Eddie who drove past earlier seeing all the people. It was very touching moment for him to read it. The 2 shows this mon. & tues. will be very special, anyone attending you're all in for some amazing shows!!

Just got back from Easy Street too. I had thought the idea of a record store was dead until I went tonight, but I was proven wrong. It was full of energy! It was nice to be in a place where everyone loved Pearl Jam as much as I did, and getting to listen to the album front to back for the first time with all the people was just amazing.

I am a little scared to say this, but I have to say Backspacer surpasses Ten and No Code; it has to be the most well-rounded album yet. I wish Pearl Jam all the success with this album and I hope it does really well. I can't wait for the show Monday!

  • in my top 4 for sure right now. Ten,Vs,No Code,Backspacer, in no order, but.......S/T...... i really did like the last record though. A lot of people didn't but i thought it was really good.
  • equal 7th best album with avo.

to MY ears, it has 2 great tunes in unthought and breathe. a bit of filler in friend and the end. some average rockers in got some and force. waves is ok i guess but doesnt quite hit any highs... and some shit tunes in fixer, supersonic, johnny and speed of sound.
Yeh I've seen Pearl Jam, too. But I can't remember the dates.
  • i think at best this album is average.

i am patiently waiting to see what the reaction and opinions are in a years time.

  • My wife's been out of town and hasn't heard it yet. I sent her a text last night along the lines of "Shit, baby, this album is amazing!"

Disappointed on first spin. Been scaling the heights ever since. It's been a long time since this many songs on a PJ song have evoked emotion in me!

  • It battles with Riot Act as their poorest album.

I've come to expect a bit of disappointment with their newer records, but I'm pretty disillusioned on more than just the album level at the moment.

i find it a bit too short so i play it twice. in my book its a 74 minute masterpiece!
  • Right where the band and I are at this time in life. I love it and many people are excited about. Seems like the debbie downers are at the fan club - go figure. Same crap every new release anymore. Nice to see a positive thread.

  • It's amazing I love it. It's the best pearl jam record since yield........
  • I love this album to. My girlfriend is also in my camp and we think we may have found our wedding song on this album.

As someone previously mentioned I too fell like this album is a reflection of where I am right now, which is content in where I am and excited to push myself forward in new directions.

I cant wait to see them Tuesday and Friday, so excited to hear the new songs live.

  • theres definitely more positive posts about this album than i have seen on this board for the last few albums. i looved avacado but it seems a lot of people didnt. backspacer rocks too!!
  • BS is a little Ramones, a little Aerosmith, a little Bruce, and a little Into the Wild. And its got an 80's pop rock feel, which I kinda like...feels very California to me (make sense?). Listening with the sunroof open is recommended!!

    Got some?

I am not sure how I will feel a year from now, but I really like this record today....and Brendan is just the shit. I really give him credit for taking the songs to a very different place from past PJ, we aren't in Kansas anymore.

  • 3 year old brought CD up to the bedroom on Saturday morning (from those nice people at HMV who didn't get me a ticket to Shepherds Bush) - into the PC, ripped to MP3 player, onto the CD player in kitchen, moved to car yesterday and this afternoon. Great album, not all instantly accessible which is generally a good thing, intelligent lyrics, love it - thanks.
  • "Its evolution, baby!"

I am very pleased that some of the songs are a bit of a departure from what you might expect. The album shows much musical growth. I think the only low point is "supersonic"...sounds a bit phoned in but otherwise I find the album very inspired.

The goosebumps are an infallible test. You can't fake them. You can't force them. The music, the lyrics, Ed's voice just hits you like a wave ... and they appear.

I just feel sorry for those who can't feel what I feel. It's sort of like those women who can't have an orgasm.

yeah the first song that did that for me was just breathe...then amongst the waves, then unthought known etc...

That trifecta is pretty much what did it to me.

Although, I also get the goosebumps during the "fight to get it back again" bit in The Fixer. Maybe I'm a goosebump slut, I don't know.
