yes. i'm not a fan of this song. but i noticed how odd eds vocals sounded and had my brother listen to it and we both agree that there's a heavy use of autotune on just breath.
any time a singer sounds like a machine, its autotune these days. long sustained notes that don't waver. perfect intervals in the harmonies it's clearly autotuned.

I pray it's not the same computerized, robotic sound that most R&B singers use these days.i am a target wrote:yes i have. and he doesn't sound like the album version.11/6/95, 11/18/97, 7/13/98, 7/14/98, 10/24/00, 10/25/00, 10/28/00, 6/2/03, 6/3/03, 6/5/03, 7/6/06, 7/7/06, 7/9/06, 7/10/06, 7/13/06, 7/15/06, 7/16/06, 7/18/06, 10/21/06, 4/10/08, 4/13/08, 9/30/09, 10/1/09, 10/6/09, 10/7/09, 10/9/090 -
i'll see if i can pin down an exactly time when the autotune is most obvious so you can listen for it
listen to the way the notes shift in "yes i un-der-stand" especially the way it gets to the -stand0 -
Perfect intervals are more likely down to editing than autotune, the vocals could easily be spliced from different takes - that's no uncommon at all. Ed's just trying out a different vocal style. Think about this for a second, has Ed ever really struck you as the kind of singer who needs autotuning?0

Auto-tune is a normally used as a pitch corrector... but when it's manipulated and played around with enough it can be used to make your voice sound like a robot, like T-Pain, Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Cher (I think she was the first to use it like this)...
Ed's voice sounds fairly normal on Just Breathe, I just think it's his delivery that is making it sound kind of odd... I agree that he sounds kind of nasally on this track but it doesn't take much away from the song for me personally.0 -

You don't have to be George Martin to know what auto-tuning is.2000: Camden 1, 2003: Philly, State College, Camden 1, MSG 2, Hershey, 2004: Reading, 2005: Philly, 2006: Camden 1, 2, East Rutherford 1, 2007: Lollapalooza, 2008: Camden 1, Washington D.C., MSG 1, 2, 2009: Philly 1, 2, 3, 4, 2010: Bristol, MSG 2, 2011: PJ20 1, 2, 2012: Made In America, 2013: Brooklyn 2, Philly 2, 2014: Denver, 2015: Global Citizen Festival, 2016: Philly 2, Fenway 1, 2018: Fenway 1, 2, 2021: Sea. Does Autotuned mean that it sounds like Ed had a booger stuck in his nose when they put that track down? :shock:0

You don't have to be George Martin to know what auto-tuning is.
