I definitely feel the "Rain" vibe.. i kind of think this song almost sounds like a drain running dry or something. I like this tune, as with most of the tunes on binaural, leaves a very distinctive and intriguing taste on the tounge,.

I feel loneliness and sadness. I feel bad for the guy. He's stuck in a rut. Same thing, day in and day out. Wishes he was someone/somewhere else. Sad song.....but one of my favorites.

I love that song, but only after listened to it a few times and really felt the rhythm, now it almost puts me in a trance, it mellows me out so much, I have to be careful listening to it when driving, I arrive home without realizing how i got there -

when I first saw the trailer for the Leonardo DiCaprio movie a few months ago, I thought it could easily be based on Sleight of Hand and Parting Ways. cant think of the name right now.

As I also sit here at my work desk, I completely agree - it makes way too much sense at the moment.

Anyway, I've always loved this song. Yes, it is a bit depressing, but the music is very atmospheric and Eddie delivers as if he were the protagonist himself - you believe every word. Small rant: one of the main reasons I love many rock singers from the 90s era (e.g. Vedder, Cornell, Lanegan, Staley, etc, etc) is that you can really feel their lyrics and emotion. Their delivery is so authentic and full of soul that it's almost palpable. I simply don't get that from many of today's modern rock bands. This song is a great illustration of that notion.

I feel like Ed was watching me at work and wrote a song about it.

On the upside, I'm waiting for a phone call any day that might just change that!

    (fingers crossed)

    Good thread..
This song soothes my soul.. I see a road in the night (not raining, just a calm, warm night).. Sometimes when I'm in my car back from work I feel like the man in this song.. This song alone is more worth than Avocado in its entirety, in my modest opinion.. I hope they will include more introspective and emotional songs like this in the next album.. Fuck those useless punkish songs

When I've listened to it recently, all I can focus on is figuring out the time signature in the verses. I'm a singer, so I should really be able to work it out, but it eludes me. Little help?
  • like a rainy highway with flashing lights .. maybe over looking the ocean/city at night.
all i know is that this song creates this incredible universe in my brain every time i listen to it. easily in the top 3 best pj songs ever for me. and if you listen to this song while smoking the ol' marijuana, oh my!

Wow.. this song creates visual landscapes.. I see a dark setting.. very late dusk over a calm ocean. Almost surreal.. a sad, dark, nightmare landscape, but an awesome experience..
