Hello pearl jam, and fans of pearl jam.
I just wanted to say how outragous pearl jam ticket prices have gotten. In recent years their tickets have been slowly rising in prices. What ever happened to the band standing up for the fans? How about their legal bouts w/ ticketmaster?
Here's an idea: do what some other well pedicured bands are doing and A: use independent ticket distributors and lower yr tickets prices so hard working fans can come to the show, not feeling like they left their souls w/ the ticket taker, or B: really give back to the fans/community and use smaller venues in more under appreciated towns that could use the revenue and economical boost.
I for one will never attend another pearl jam show until action is set in motion.
It's also my understanding pearl jam are looking for a new label. Might i suggest starting w/ an indie label.

Sincerely,
a fan, not a floor mat

Too bad for you. You'll miss out on one of the best live acts around.

I thought that they are releasing Backspacer on their own label now (Monkeywrench).
  • hmm, first post...a doozie. First, PJ are paying their own way on this tour...no "label" to pick up the tab. Do you have any idea how expensive that is to "rent" the United Center, Seattle Center, or any other venue? And as a fan, do you realize that they negotiate a shitload of seats for fanclub members (i.e. you) so you don't have to sit in section 309, row 42. In Chicago alone, 7000 fanclub seats in a venue that holds 16,000. Yeah, they don't care about us at all...Should they play 65 shows at the Showbox just to be able to take care of all of the fans in Seattle that want to see them? Take this post to the whiners corner.

I agree with you for the most part, but you do realize that the band makes more money by "renting" out the venues themselves and not having to go through middlemen right? So yeah, its expensive of course, but they're in effect getting the wholesale price on the venue. On top of that, ticket prices went up, so they should be banking hard this tour.

PJ cares about its fans, but they also care about our money more than they used to.

  • this is just stupid. yes, ticket prices are a little higher than they used to be, but still significantly lower than every other major arena rock band out there (ie, a band with enough of a following to sell out an arena). i don't remember exactly, but the stones at PNC a few years back was like $200 just to get in the stadium. some ridiculous amount.

This is just a really bad thread.

What "well pedicured(?)" bands use alternate ticketing distributors?
Do the boys think they sold their souls? I haven't seen anything in interviews.
    $2/ticket goes right to charity.
PJ can't use smaller venues, they won't fit
They're not looking for a new label.

Yes it is. Ticket prices haven't "slowly risen"...they've jumped significantly since 2003. ;)

  • $77-$85 a ticket is too much????

    Lets see....

If you save $1.00 a day for a full year.....

You can buy a concert ticket
    a poster
    a shirt
    a hooker
    and some condoms.............

Which has all the makings of a good night out.......
    Take me piece by piece.....
Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....

I can see the TV commercial now, "for just 25 cents a day, you can send this poor college student to a PJ concert, afterward you'll receive a photo with your sponsor and Boom from outside the venue, and many letters about how they shouldn't have played Even Flow AGAIN, how your sponsor's seats weren't in the first ten rows, and that the show poster was sub par."

    so tix for 167.
    poster for 30.
    shirt for 35.
    condoms for 12.

    that's 244.

    now 365 - 244 = $121.

    $121. for a hooker = crack-whore-because-sometimes-being-ugly-isnt-enough-demotivational-poster.jpg

If you feel like high ticket prices (I don't exactly agree that they are outrageous) mean you're being treated like a floor mat you have much larger issues going on in your life. I wish this thread was a joke, but it's not. There are few bands out there that do as much for their fans as Pearl Jam does. Get over yourself.

    Oh really???.... ;)
(Sorry, after all those threads after the Chi shows, I chuckled about this.)

But seriously, it amazes me the sense of entitlement that some people have towards PJ, all b/c they consider themselves a fan....

better up the hooker money the one in that picture is scary, anyway prices on everything have gone up and the price of the tickets aren't as bad as some other ones I have bought, but as one post said this thread is pretty useless, it won't make any differences what we say the prices will still remain the same, STOP WHINING!
