BACKSPACER Vault Shows

My guess is what they meant by shows that :"span the band's career" is that these shows have songs from the beginning of Pearl Jam "Ten to "Self-Titled". So they had to be recent concerts. Makes sense if they are trying to get new people interested in some of the albums that didn't sell so well.0

Kinda disappointing.... well doesn't change the fact that Backspacer will ROCK...
... and melt my face, whahahaha 8-)Makes me ache, makes me shake...
...is it so wrong to think that love can keep us safe?0 -
is it possible the band cant offer us "older" shows without negotiating a big time deal with Sony? I wonder if they jumped thru hurdles to get us the New york New Year's eve show a few years ago etc? Maybe this is the reason all the shows are so recent? After they left Sony0

I had no expectations about what shows would be released so this doesn't really bother me. I think some people set themselves up for disappointment by making assumptions about what shows we were going to get. If the 10C edition allows for show downloads, I'll be getting Philly 05 and Hartford 08 as I have not heard those yet....and yes I know I could download Philly now for free if I wanted to

This is pretty weak if it is true. I get what someone said about trying to bring new fans in, but if you offer 11 shows, what would be the harm in offering say, 1 from '92, 2 from '93-'95, 1 from '96, 1 from '98, and the other 6 from 2000 and beyond? Also, PJ knows the big fans are crazy, and some of them would go out and buy 5 copies of the album just to get all the downloads. The term "vault" was used, and the band and their representatives have to know, that anytime they throw that word out there, the big fans are going to assume that means shows from before 2000, or shows from after 2000 that were never officially released (Vic, etc.)words seem so out of place.

It does say that there may be more bonus features in the future, but somehow I doubt it.

I wouldn't think that would matter. If sony owns the rights to the older songs then they own the rights to the songs no matter what years they were played. I could be wrong.107 Shows and counting0 -
Some 98 soundboard quality shows would have sold me on an extra purchase and would have been kick ass for a many of the casual fans alsoVan 92.07.21 / Van 98.07.19 / Sea 98.07.22 / Tor 98.08.22 / Sea 00.11.06 / Van 03.05.30/ Van 05.09.02/ Gorge 06.07.22 & 23 / EV Van 08.04.02 / Tor 09.08.21 / Sea 09.09.21 & 22 / Van 09.09.25 / Van 11.09.25 / Van 13.12.04 / Pem 16.07.17 / Sea 18.08.100

They should release the 09 Pre-Backspacer shows this way. That will get them a lot of orders.

Not necessarily - its on the Indy 2000 show, one of the Aussie shows from 2006... you should be able to find them online w/o too much trouble.corduroykelly wrote:None of these bootlegs have Throw your arms around me thats all I want 2 have it but its a pre opener and its never included as a pre opener0 -
How do you know that's the case? And if so, wouldn't they own the 2005 recordings as well?Mine wrote:

I don't believe Sony owns rights to live recordings of the songs. Master tapes...possibly. I doubt live recordings though.0

The whole point of this is to bring in NEW fans, and what the hell would someone who is just getting into the band gain from having a concert recording of a show from 15 years ago??
Maybe so. But it's a little misleading then to use terms like "vault shows" and "spanning the bands career"
True, but did we ever get those terms stated in an official press release from the band, or Target??
I think it has all just been speculation on the part of the fans/music journalist. I could be wrong, hell I probably am wrong, I just don't ever remember reading those exact words in anything official.
Yeah I'm too lazy to find it right now, but that was the exact verbage.
I should have know better than to get my hopes up. I mean seriously, as many good things that come from the band and the 10C, they have seriously dropped the ball on this. Now before someone gives me an "entitlement" speech, let's not forget that they were the ones who first mentioned this whole vault thing YEARS ago (remember the Vegas download? Rats?) and we have never been given any sort of update on this. Even if it is to say that it will be twenty fucking years, they should announce something. And then to use the notorious "vault" term with these shows is just an embarrassment and slap in the face if you ask me.0 -

could that maybe be why we ended up with an audience recording from the 12/31/92 show instead of a soundboard?Rock me Jesus, roll me Lord...

long ago, I quit looking at 10C as a "fan club." To me, they're just the public relations arm of Curtis Mgmt. Outside of this little domain right here, I imagine that they actually have very little influence in the world of PJ.Rock me Jesus, roll me Lord...
