i used to know all the albums inside out, but as i got older, i couldn't lie in bed listening every night through headphones... without falling asleep like a granny. so because of the hard yards put in in my youth i reckon i'm 100% on all the songs/lyrics up until Riot Act... then things get hazy. But I'm gonna work on it now...0

I have a weird ability to remember to lyrics to songs.
Not just for PJ but any lyrics to songs.
My friends and family think I'm a freak.
I remember lyrics to songs from when I was kid. I'm 32 now and still cramming them in there.
When I was younger I used to do what you did doom monkey. Headphones whilst lying in bed until wee hours of the morning. I'll give you a helping hand over the next few months before the shows.
Try listening to one album at a time.
Ed mumbles like mutha fucka sometimes so I bet we all hear different things...but thats for another thread.New Zealand,95 Auckland 1 & 2, 98 Auckland & Wellington,

Attention is the key at the end of the day. But so is repitition. Over and over again. Becomes another language i suppose.
Yes Monkey... I have been watching the Aussie Nz thread banter over the last few weeks. I don't post much. Frankly ziggystar is quite intimidating to me... anyway your user and avatar is cool but in my head you are the doom monkey. Nothing personal. It's how my brain works.New Zealand,95 Auckland 1 & 2, 98 Auckland & Wellington,

avocado is the only one i REALLY need to work on. oh, and some of the newer tracks on lost dogs... riot act to a lesser extent. but i'm committed to the cause. nothing like going to a gig and knowing EVERY song. it doesn't happen often. i was once at a gig where i was the only person not in the band who'd heard every song and it was magic.0

Goes with the territory I guess...magic and mythical creatures. You could store the lyrics in your hornNew Zealand,95 Auckland 1 & 2, 98 Auckland & Wellington,

but then where would i keep my keys?
i used to be able to recite the songs in the order they appeared on the albums, in order of album release. i wouldnt be able to do that now.
i'm old. or a bad fan.0 -

I used to be able to as well, even up until S/T. Now the only one I know for sure is Ten. Still, I can easily list all the songs of the other albums, just not in order.
In the months leading up to the 2006 tour, I probably knew (meaning I can sing it aloud without playing the actual song) the lyrics of 90%+ of album tracks (plus many Lost Dogs, xmas singles, covers, etc). I especially made an effort to memorise all S/T lyrics in time for the tour. Since then I've forgotten a lot from the recent albums, since I prefer and listen to the older stuff more, and I've also become a bit less PJ-obsessive.
Still, forgotten lyrics usually return to me easily when I listen to it again.
Nowadays I tend to learn lyrics only to songs that I really like.
