Me no.
They are the only band out of the many that I love that have never disappointed me with their albums.
What an amazing band, continuously putting out great solid albums leaving me struggling to pick a number one.
I have confidence Backspacer will not disappoint!

Dissapointed...no
but some are obviously much better than others.0 -
the album that I'm most disappointed with would be the avocado album apart from that I love every other album. I like parts of S/T but overall I don't think it lived up to it's initial hype. From what I've heard of Backspacer it will be a much superior effort.I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

I say no.
Every album has at least 5 songs that have reached me and love hearing live.
Previous post mentioned their last album
Here's 5 worthy songs:
Severed Hand
Marker in Sand
Life Wasted
Inside Job

there are some noteworthy tracks (comatose, life wasted, marker) but overall I thought it fell flat as a whole.I'm just flying around the other side of the world to say I love you

Not been disappointed off the bat...but as time goes by...and I reach less and less to play an album, I get a little disappointed. Yes, I'm talking about Riot Act. A few nice ones, but all and all it be the first 1 I'd vote off the island.hippiemom = goodness0 -

Avocado is awesome, only 2-3 songs on it that I don't really fancy but they are not bad.
Riot Act probably down the bottom for me but still a great album.Adelaide 17/11/2009, Melbourne 20/11/2009, Sydney 22/11/2009, Melbourne (Big Day Out Festival) 24/01/20140 -

If you had to rid yourself of one Album I can see how Riot Act, Binaural, and Pear Jam are dropped for all others.
However, I love Riot Act.
The drums in Can't keep move me every time I play that CD, I don't think Matt pulls the sound of live up the studio version is great.
Then Save You, LBC, I am Mine are all very strong moving songs.
While You Are is a treat live and 1/2 just rocks.0 -
No, i have never been disappointed with any of their albums. I have bought every album on release day, played them to death for the first few weeks and still love them.
Sure, there are some that I play less frequently than others these days (hello 'Vs') but that's purely down to whatever mood I'm in.
The closest I've ever been to disappointed was 'Binaural' - the songs are all great but the production is woeful!Post edited by goldrush on“Do not postpone happiness”

Bingo. Me too. Liked it at first because I was excited about new PJ but that did't last long.cincybearcat wrote:Thoughts_Arrive wrote:Me no.

You must put Vs on RIGHT NOW. There's gold in that one.0 -
Yeah I know, I can't actually think of a good reason not to play it, it's just always the last one I reach for when I'm playing PJ for some reason. Maybe I did kill it when it first came out...been3daysnow wrote:goldrush wrote:No, i have never been disappointed with any of their albums. Self-titled let me down especially after the long wait, the political lyrics are lame and kill the album for me. I know Eddie felt strong about it at the time and if that's what he wanted to sing about more power to him, but I don't really like rocking to to political songs, whether I agree with them or not. I didn't like the band trying to sound "old school Pearl Jam" either, I enjoy hearing the band evolve. Backspacer sounds like it has a new sound, and that's why I'm sure it will be a lot better than self-titled. Also, an avocado on the cover? Really? Also I loved Riot Act, just fyi.0

Binaural, when it was first released. But now I love it.
What's wrong with all you people that don't like self titled? I think it's amazing; love every track.
THe cover art is stupid though. They should have put the picture that's behind the disc on the cover.

i was pretty depressed after the first listen through of riot act and i think s/t has alot of great songs but terrible album order/cover/and lack of a cool album name if the jacket was the cover it would've looked a hell of a lot cooler, the avocado is just terrible0

I'd say Binaural 'disappointed' me, at first. I don't really recall getting THAT into the album when it came out, but I had finally just joined the Ten Club before it came out. I remember getting the order form in the mail for tickets. But sadly the jerks didn't come here. The closest they came ended up being the Ice Bowl show, so I suppose it was ok I didn't go.
But because I didn't have to learn the songs before I saw them in concert I think I slacked off a bit on listening to it. I love it now, mostly for Nothing As It Seems (I did love that from the beginning) and Sleight Of Hand.
Riot Act to me now is a little disappointing. I really enjoyed it when it first came out, but honestly aside from You Are, I'm fine not hearing those songs live.
The album that I have the most estranged relationship with though would have to be Vs. I'm not sure why really. I remember listening to it back when it first came out, and enjoying it, but it wasn't my copy of it that I listened to. So by the time I got around to having a CD player of my own, and buying CD's I never got around to buying it.
I ended up stealing the album from my brother, but by that point I didn't really listen to it much. The odd thing about Vs. for me is that W.M.A. and Indifference are songs that I love, but I didn't get to appreciate when I first listened to it. While the songs Go, Animal, Daughter, Elderly Woman all have strong impressions on me from when the album first came out.
So while they are on the same album, it's almost as if those 2 groups of songs are separated in my memories of it, by about 5-6 years.
So it usually weirds people out when in a 'ranking' of the album Vs. is usually at or near the bottom of the list.0 -
