Ever been disappointed with any of their albums?

Me no.
They are the only band out of the many that I love that have never disappointed me with their albums.
What an amazing band, continuously putting out great solid albums leaving me struggling to pick a number one.
I have confidence Backspacer will not disappoint!

but some are obviously much better than others.

Every album has at least 5 songs that have reached me and love hearing live.
Previous post mentioned their last album
Here's 5 worthy songs:
Severed Hand
Marker in Sand
Life Wasted
Inside Job
Gone
there are some noteworthy tracks (comatose, life wasted, marker) but overall I thought it fell flat as a whole.

Not been disappointed off the bat...but as time goes by...and I reach less and less to play an album, I get a little disappointed. Yes, I'm talking about Riot Act. A few nice ones, but all and all it be the first 1 I'd vote off the island.
Army Reserve is one of their best songs. Comatose kicks ass. I also love Parachutes.
for her to come home

darkness leaves the dawn
Neil deGrasse Tyson
Why not (V) (°,,,,°) (V) ?
Riot Act probably down the bottom for me but still a great album.
If you had to rid yourself of one Album I can see how Riot Act, Binaural, and Pear Jam are dropped for all others.
However, I love Riot Act.
The drums in Can't keep move me every time I play that CD, I don't think Matt pulls the sound of live up the studio version is great.
Then Save You, LBC, I am Mine are all very strong moving songs.
While You Are is a treat live and 1/2 just rocks.
Sure, there are some that I play less frequently than others these days (hello 'Vs') but that's purely down to whatever mood I'm in.
The closest I've ever been to disappointed was 'Binaural' - the songs are all great but the production is woeful!

What's wrong with all you people that don't like self titled? I think it's amazing; love every track.
THe cover art is stupid though. They should have put the picture that's behind the disc on the cover.
But because I didn't have to learn the songs before I saw them in concert I think I slacked off a bit on listening to it. I love it now, mostly for Nothing As It Seems (I did love that from the beginning) and Sleight Of Hand.
Riot Act to me now is a little disappointing. I really enjoyed it when it first came out, but honestly aside from You Are, I'm fine not hearing those songs live.
The album that I have the most estranged relationship with though would have to be Vs. I'm not sure why really. I remember listening to it back when it first came out, and enjoying it, but it wasn't my copy of it that I listened to. So by the time I got around to having a CD player of my own, and buying CD's I never got around to buying it.
I ended up stealing the album from my brother, but by that point I didn't really listen to it much. The odd thing about Vs. for me is that W.M.A. and Indifference are songs that I love, but I didn't get to appreciate when I first listened to it. While the songs Go, Animal, Daughter, Elderly Woman all have strong impressions on me from when the album first came out.
So while they are on the same album, it's almost as if those 2 groups of songs are separated in my memories of it, by about 5-6 years.
So it usually weirds people out when in a 'ranking' of the album Vs. is usually at or near the bottom of the list.

VS IS MY FAVOURITE RECORD!! Ten is what I am drawn to emotionally because of what it did for me at the time, but if I just want to listen to music for the music itself, VS is above all else. No comparison for me. Vitalogy is a close second.

I agree about the first 3 albums. VS is for me the best follow up album, AND the best album by any rock band, period.

put on a slow, dumb show for you
and crack you up
so you can put a blue ribbon on my brain
god I'm very, very frightening
and I'll overdo it'
I personally don't think that they'll ever put out a really disappointing record. They just care too much about the music and to us (to a degree) to ever put out shit. But it's a fact of life that bands' later albums don't match their earlier outputs. Just a fact of life. Like every great band that ever was/is.
Same as the other posters have been saying, some of their lps are/will be more classic than others, that's all.
Agree with you.
It's growing up just like me.
For me, no I have never been disappointed with a PJ album and probably never will. Some albums took a little longer for me to get used to than others, but once I know all the songs and have heard them several times, I generally end up falling in love with the album. Please explain why you think the Avocado is terrible? I cannot comprehend why any fan of PJ's would think this, so enlighten me! It is as good as any of their others, imo.
that being said there are still a lot of great songs on RA.
the heavy handed and obvious lyrics kill both for me, but musically i can appreciate them.
luckily, they are still great live, even the songs from those two albums.
