    Ehh.

    Personally, I'm utterly terrified that listening to a song will directly influence my decisions. I simply have zero personal conviction or ability to be an objective listener and appreciate musical narrative for what it is. I can't be trusted to be a sensible human being.

    The 'Vs.' record alone was a complete fucking nightmare for me, for that simple reason. Got arrested for bestiality after listening to Animal, 'cause if Eddie would rather be with one, who am I to fuck another person?

    Interesting question, for which I do not have an answer. However, lyrically, this song blows my mind when considered from the perspective of Echols: his wife is telling their young child that daddy is gone to war through the army reserve, when he really is in prison, and the child is getting old enough to find out the truth.
