    I'm sure Ed would be all of those things, but I imagine their first consideration would be getting someone that can do the songs justice. That's why Ed filled in for Jim Morrison... the voice sounded right and he was as close to Jim as anyone you could have wanted. But Ed sounds nothing like Kurt and it would kinda take the focus off Nirvana and make it more about the other people on the stage I think. I imagine they'd prefer someone that can sing Nirvana songs in the same spirit Kurt did, and that's not really suited to Ed's style. Also, someone that won't at all steal Nirvana's thunder, since the night is about them.

    Something similar happened when Lou Reed inducted Frank Zappa. They had a love/hate relationship and Lou felt really guilty when Frank died so he volunteered to induct him. It was sort of strange and uncomfortable.

    That's what I'm thinking... you don't want the personalities involved and the drama and backstory to eclipse the inductee's music. It should be about what Nirvana accomplished, not laying the rivalry to rest or about grunge as a whole.

    they haven't reunited as "Nirvana" with any other singer/guitarist since Kurt's death. I really have respect for them because of that, because there must be so much pressure on them to cash in on the name.
    Really?! Dave has FF and TCV. Krist is doing politics, writing a weekly column AND guesting on Flipper records. Where is this pressure you speak of??

    You cannot replace someone like Kurt. What fantasy land are you people living in where you think anybody can be replaced? There will be no Elliott Smith reunion tours going around anytime soon because Elliott Smith is DEAD. There will be no Nirvana reunion shows EVER because Kurt is DEAD.

    AIC chose to get a new singer for whatever reason. They were more of "band's band" anyway unlike Nirvana where Kurt did 99% of the writing, so I can see how they might have entertained the idea of continuing on. I wholly disagree with replacing Layne but so be it. I'd even go so far as to say they shouldn't use the name AIC anymore but I am a hard-liner. Maybe "World's Greatest Alice In Chains Cover Band" but not Alice In Chains. Shit, Led Zeppelin called it quits after their drummer died. That's respectable.

    I won't even get into Lynyrd fucking Skynyrd. I think I'm next in line as a replacement guitarist if another one of them dies...

    I could see them getting Mike Arm or Frank Black to come and sing for Kurt.

    And then reuinited to make gagillions playing that gig in London not long ago. Don't forget the Who touring for years after Moon died. AC/DC. Black Sabbath. Van Halen. Many bands manage to move forward together without original members.
