Nirvana and the Rock 'n' Roll of Fame

My co worker and I were discussing the other day about Nirvana's inevitable induction into the hall of fame in 2012 and we were trying to come up with who would sing and play guitar. He said that Dave Grohl should front the band and that Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters should play the drums. To me that defeats the whole purpose, I want to see Dave behind the kit. But that still begs the question who would sing. Courtney Love? Frances Bean? Some random guy? And of course what will the song selection be like? Smells Like Teen Spirit obviously, but then what? Thoughts, ideas?
32 shows and counting...

I alctually would be pissed if they played, just Krist and Dave, or Dave Krist and some other guy.
Kurt in many ways, was and remains Nirvana. When he died the band was never going to reform. And it never will reform.
When Nirvana is inducted, they will show some clips of the band in action from the archives, someone will give a speech, Krist and Dave will speak, and that will be it.
Some bands are meant to reform and reunite. Nirvana died April 1994.
I think just for one night is fine.

Eddie sang for jim Morrison at the Doors induction. It's not like playing a gig at the induction ceremony is the same thing as reforming and reuniting.
There's only one man in my mind capable and worthy of guesting on vocals, and that would be Mark Lanegan.
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
Don't Dave and Krist pretty much hate Courtney?!
Seriously Courtney Love is wretched. I've never liked her music and never will.
Funny, I love her music with Hole. But I don't think it would really be appropriate having her sing as a stand in. Having said that, I preferred Hole's version of You Know You're Right to Nirvana's.......
As much as I think Courtney is a complete tool, I have to agree with this comment. I was so disappointed with the Nirvana version after hearing Hole's take on it

(Tim Rogers)
That would be badass..!!
Or maybe have an image of him ala r2D2 projecting princess leia.

Yeah you're right, I dont know why I was thinking 1987.
I don't think anyone would pretend to be Kurt and it definitely wouldn't be "some guy."
I also completely forgot about Pat Smear, he is an official member of the group, but he was just to take the stress of Kurt so he didn't have to worry about playing lead and rhythm all his own. Doesn't Smear play with the Foo Fighters now?
All I know is that I don't want Courtney Love anywhere near that stage
You guys need serious help.
but i don't see a reason for people to get bent out of shape if dave and Krist had somebody sit in for a song or two. they've never even attempted anything of the sort and i think they've really done an exceptional job of respecting Kurts passing and the bands legacy. I would like to hear them play something.
anybody think it would suck if Nirvana made it in and PJ doesn't? that's a bigger question
i don't see that happening. they'll both make it in.

Well what can I say other than that I whole-heartedly disagree. I prefer it acoustic, I love the cello and harp - they give the song a really cool vibe, in my opinion. Maybe I'm biased because this is the first version of it I knew.......
They formed in early 1987 and played their first show as "Nirvana" in March 1988. Does this not count?
They should do what RUN DMC did this year and not play.
Which is what will probably happen. Although I still maintain Mark Lanegan would do a great job on some of their songs. Plus he was a good friend of Kurt's, so I wouldn't count it out.
