Cool! But how does one who doesn't have a Target shop in their province (Nova Scotia) get those downloads .. from Target? :(

You got plenty of US friends, so I wouldn't worry about it... and like the OP said, it's something that a lot of us already have.

It sounded like if you are a 10c member, it's not really of an issue...unless I got that wrong.
JA: Why do I get the Ticketmaster question?
    EV: It's your band.

thanks for the heads up red mos!

i was getting excited for the target live shows but im almost certain i already have them / could easily find them now that i know theyre audience recordings... what kind of incentive is that?!?

ill have to go ahead and order my 10C copy... i wonder if the internet thing comes with the vinyl too or if you need to have the CD in your computer

I wouldn't have thought the 10 Club would be sitting on a stockpile of old audience recordings. Not sure what to make of that news.

Me either. Maybe the poor girl was confused and meant "old shows many already have audience recordings of". Why make it an extra if we can get it now easily?
if thats the case then i'll just be getting backspacer from my local indie store. I'm pretty sure i already have these 11 old shows.

Just called again, the dowload shows will be like NYE 92 soundwise.

Another thread on it's own: I also inquired about 2009 boots and which shows will not be available and she said she didn't know yet. Kind of dissapointing. It will be dissapointing not to have all 2009 boots..

Still not convinced, will believe it when I see it (then again, I wouldn't have believed they released an audience boot of the NYE '92 show either).

i think its probably true... maybe it was the bands way of letting target think theyre getting something exclusive and cool while actually encouraging people to buy directly from 10C or indie stores... regardless of whether thats true ill pretend it is just to restore my anti-corporate trust in PJ :D

    good info!

Like I said before, doesn't hurt to contact the 10c in regards to things that have already been announced by them, tickets you bought or any other goods in general.

Wow, this is pretty disappointing news. I was looking forward to the vault shows as much as the new album. That NYE boot was terrible.

the 10 club version will contain internet only stuff that will be ongoing. Meaning I think it will have a code that will enable you excess to a special site that will continually be updated with pearl jam stuff. She did not go into detail as to what the materials would be as she isn't exactly sure right now. It will be an ongoing thing. Sounds pretty cool actually.

Boy, I'm so glad they throw this sort of thing in as a perk with pre-ordering the new album. I mean, imagine how much it would suck if 10c members could access a special site updated with PJ stuff. We might actually get our money's worth from this club!
  • No disrespect dude, but I'm with Spencer on this one. Casual fan or diehard, I don't think we'll get boots that sound like the Academy show.

    From wiki:

"Though this is an official bootleg, the quality is similar to that of common bootlegs, because the band used DAT recorders until the middle of 1992."

Hopefully mods will step in to squash this...

I'm guessing that at least Kelly Curtis recognizes just what kind of goldmine they're sitting on with "The Vault." We're basically talking about the band's retirement fund here. And their childrens' trust funds, for that matter. I imagine the "real" vault (any and all soundboard recordings the band has) will be slowly doled out once the band calls it a career. There's no reason for the band to give away the goldmine for a silly promo. So I'm not terribly surprised if they end up throwing crappy audience boots out there.

That is incorrect. The NYC boot is taken from a recording that a fan made. It even has clicks between the tracks like a badly burned CDR.

Why would they use an audience recording? That kind of goes against the reason they started releasing boots themselves.

Except that it's a great way to give fans a taste of what they might buy in the future. giving fans crap now will not make it more likely that those same fans will spend the money when the real vault is opened. if you dont agree, consider the 12/31/92 release and the effect that its poor quality is having on the fanbase now. the last 3 archive releases by the band (12/31/92, MTV Unplugged and Drop in the Park) have all been flawed (missing songs, edited, poor quality) and have created a cloud of skepticism over any such shows the band releases in the future. this is an opportunity to wipe the memories of the fans clean and release shows the way the band knows they should, complete, unedited, and in professional, lossless quality.
