  • Let's not forget that before the '06 Tour, the Constitution Hall show from 1.14.95 was on Basecamp as a test of sorts for FLAC releases. I consider that part of the vault, even though it was never officially released. And aside from the first few tracks having dropouts that show is stellar.
  • They better be soundboards and they better be available in FLAC, otherwise a lot of people are going to be furious.

There's no reason for the band to give away the goldmine for a silly promo. So I'm not terribly surprised if they end up throwing crappy audience boots out there.

Except that it's a great way to give fans a taste of what they might buy in the future. giving fans crap now will not make it more likely that those same fans will spend the money when the real vault is opened. if you dont agree, consider the 12/31/92 release and the effect that its poor quality is having on the fanbase now. the last 3 archive releases by the band (12/31/92, MTV Unplugged and Drop in the Park) have all been flawed (missing songs, edited, poor quality) and have created a cloud of skepticism over any such shows the band releases in the future. this is an opportunity to wipe the memories of the fans clean and release shows the way the band knows they should, complete, unedited, and in professional, lossless quality.

But releasing audio boots for the "Vault" requires almost no effort on the part of the band or their management. Basically as somebody said, just download the show off the internet and repackage it for this promo.

sorry, but I dont see how your post is a response to mine. additionally, have you EVER heard of a band releasing an audience recording? I have not, and that is part of the reason I was so incredibly disappointed by 12/31/92.

Two free FLAC shows would be the gift that keeps on giving, but I won't hold out hope for that. It really stings a little when I see Counting Crows, DMB , and Phish..bands that I don't hate, yet don't care about as much as PJ offering up their vault...and in FLAC.

I really feel that PJ is going to milk their vault releases in the same way the estates of Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Buckley have

Is it safe to assume that the copy we'll be able to purchase in indie record stores is identical to the "10C version", in that the same "extras" will be offered in the indie store versions?

Like I've said elsewhere, I'm pretty sure the OP spoke to the work experience girl at the 10C - no way they are putting out auds, no way in hell.

    G'day ol' chum! 8-)

Listen to this man, he speaketh the truth.

    They're not audience recordings.

Will they be old shows or just post-2000 shows?

    That remains up for debate...

    Time will tell.

    Hey Spenno.

    What's a nice guy like you...never mind

It is gonna be very interestings seeing what ends up being available with these. I'm hoping for 2 things - quality and something new. And some new 98 shows would be the shit too.
