It's funny to read Americans calling Obama a socialist ...

I think its funny when people (i.e. Republicans) say Obama destroyed the country roughly 7 months into a 4 year term. Oh how quickly we forget the previous 8 years and the clusterfuck that the new president inherited. And if I remember correctly, even Bush wasn't judged a complete fuck-up until at least halfway through his first term....at least that's when I started considering him a retarded dipshit fuck-up. :D

Obama didn't mess up nearly as bad as Bush did several times in his presidency. I'm not a huge Obama fan, but he was the best choice we had to vote for.

And do people still really think Obama is socialist? Are you fucking kidding me?
hannity, beck, and limbaugh are still saying he is so why wouldnt they?

    PALIN 2012!

theres not an intelligent alternative to the democrat party these days... and i was never a staunch partisan... its insane the lengths the republican party has gone to to alienate key demographics... do they not get how politics work? or do they just figure that NASCAR is popular enough in the country that thats the only votes they need... theres some damn smart people that belong to their party... theyre just too embarrassed to speak up anymore...

Well said. I for one am a convert from the middle right. It is pretty incredible how much of the party the republicans have alienated.

I would aso venture to guess that the majority of folks on this "socialism" bandwagon don't even know what they are talking about. Especially the ones displaying the Joker posters considering the Joker was anti-state.

    I'll take socialism

    Me too.

The corporate pigs have had their time and wrecked it for the little people. Just found out that I'm getting more furlough days and paying more into my barely-adequate health insurance and may get laid off in the coming months.

Tired of working my ass off for the corporate pigs. I'm ready for a revolution.

thats whats wrong with this country... no one wants to admit any fault or stop to listen to what the other side has to say... well, you have your soap box now... back it up... ive been scouring the news for months looking for conservatives to lay out their opposition in a thoughtful way

    Here:
    - I dont believe in insuring against the inevitable. There should be no insurance to protect against the common cold or knee pain, or anything like that. These prices should be negotiated between a doctor and patient. Insurance is for unforeseen events.
    - Shiesty lawyers should not have the freedom that hey have to sue for malpractice. Doctors have to charge extra money for every procedure and run unneeded tests just to protect against malpractice lawsuits.
    - The government should give large tax incentives to doctors that care for people who cant afford insurance.
    - The government should give large tax incentives to insurance companies based on the percentage of claims that they pay out.

Did you not read the bill? It is not adding government insurance, it is setting the stage for single payer socialized health care. You will be allowed to keep your current coverage when the bill first goes into effect. However, every young person that needs insurance for the first time, will be forced to choose the government plan. Also, anyone who decides to change insurance plans after the first day the bill goes into effect will be forced to switch to the government plan. After 10 or 20 years that would make every single person insured by the government, and they will never be able to keep up with all of those people. It will add 50 million new people to system, and no new doctors. Somehow, quality of care will remain the same.

this human impact is what passes as a "liberal agenda" these days?? as closely as the evangelical christians seems to be with the right wing i dont see a whole lot of "love your neighbor as yourself" going on... how many people have to step forward with the same story before people recognize theres something wrong with the system... actually scratch that - 70% of people KNOW theres something wrong with health care... the real question is why our elected officials arent listening to the masses and getting this done...

revolution is right... ya got senators calling out the apathy of bank CEOs and theyre just as guilty... somethings gotta give

    thanks

i agree with your first 4 points and appreciate you laying out the other side

ill have to go back over the bill in greater detail to really see all your concerns

cant deny the importance of getting those 50 million new people insured though

80% of people are happy with their health care. There needs to be fixes, but we don't want it shoved down our throat quickly. The government will screw it up like everything else. And no this isn't some mob created by the GOP; people are angry and Obama and his henchmen ramming this through. The masses don't want this done, that's where you're wrong. All polls are showing most Americans are against this massive overhaul.

  • We need to get rid of these Bible thumping, Republican hypocrites who are telling us how bad Obama is, and then going down to C Street and having sex with their staff.
Take it from someone with a plethora of serious heath problems, the health care system in this country SUCKS. It needs a complete overhaul and we have to start somewhere. At least Obama is trying.
  • I enjoy Pearl Jam's music and most, definitely not all of, their messages. The last thing on earth I care about is every other poster's politics.
Now about the music. Bushleaguer sucked (I did like the music), but overall, as a song it sucked. Worldwide Suicide was awesome. I only hope that if Pearl jam have an Anti-Obama song, is that its rocking.
I have my own political beliefs and I don't think anybody else gives a shit. And that's fine. I just don't see the need to air them anonymously on a rock band's message board like a lot of you do. I'm sure I'm not alone.

We are americans and for that we all should be grateful.the majority of you on this board were living through hell during the bush years. I guess now its our turn to just bite the bullet and wait and see what happens. Hopefully one day there will be a leader to really unite this country, obama at this point is not that leader. maybe things will change for the better.

until then i'll sit back with some pearl jam and see where we end up.
looking forward to both philly shows.
