We are staying at the Residence Inn downtown. It looks like a decent place and we got a pretty good rate. Having never been to Hartford before I can't recommend another hotel. I did read a thread where some 10c members were talking about staying at the Motel 6.0

I stayed at the motel 6 in 06 UGH! Never again.0

not some...but a lot.
this and the cheap price is driving me towards reserving a room at the 6...
Esther's here and she's sick?
hi Esther, now we are all going to be sick, thanks0 -
the 6 is the place to be. people make it sound like its a slum.. i stayed there in '06 and it was fine. it ain't the ritz, but it's cheap, clean on the inside, spitting distance to the venue, and a nice little spot to pre-game.i'm more a fan of popular bands.. like the bee-gees, pearl jam0

Stay away from the hotels right around the venue. That means the Super 8, Motel 6 (used to be a red roof inn), and anything on Weston or Service Rds or thereabouts. They are fleabag whore hangouts and crack dens. Trust me, I work in the area.
The downtown area is highly recommended. More of a walk, but I think there may be shuttles from downtown hotels. But unless it pours it'll take 10-15 minutes to walk from most downtown hotels. Hilton+Crown Plaza are my strong recommendation. I seem to remember people getting great deals on the Sheraton (or Hilton ) in 2006 on Priceline. There is a brand new Mariott near the convention center. This one is bound to cost a little more but it would be my choice.if you call me Cupcake again I'll make fun of your knee socks and whistle0 -

OK man, you scared me out of the Motel 6. I just went to Hotwire and got the Sheraton for $49. Pretty good if you ask me. I think I'll just take a cab to a downtown bar before the show and then walk to the show from there.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

The Goodwin Hotel is by far the nicest.
It is right across from the Civic Center and about mile walk from the venue.0 -

If walking from downtown - will we be walking through said areas to get to the music center?8/26/98 - 9/2/00 - 4/28/03 - 7/5/03 - 7/6/03 - 10/3/05 - 5/22/06 - 5/27/06 - 5/28/06 - 6/1/06 - 6/3/06 - 6/24/06 - 7/7/06 - 7/9/06 - 7/10/06 - 8/5/07 - 6/19/08 - 6/20/08 - 6/22/08 - 6/24/08 - 6/25/08 - 8/21/09 - 8/23/09 - 8/24/09 - 10/27/09 - 10/28/09 - 10/30/09 - 10/31/09 - 5/6/10 - 5/7/10 - 5/9/10 - 5/20/10 - 5/21/10 - 9/3/11 - 9/4/11 - 9/2/12 - 7/19/13 - 10/11/13 - 10/18/13 - 10/19/13 - 10/21/13 - 10/22/13 - 4/28/16 - 4/29/16 - 8/20/18 - 4/7/18

Ditto...If I stay downtown is it feasible to walk to the amptheatre? I figured it would be too far of a walk?
Also, would it be worth my time staying downtown? I am sure Hartford has plenty to offer but I will be getting plenty of staying downtown action on this tour in larger cities. Therefore, I am not opposed to staying on the outskirts of town if there isn' too much going on and save a buck.0 -

you make whores and crack sound like a bad thing. i'll be using the hotel for drinking and sleeping. so long as there's a roof, it'll do just fine.Jam out with your clam out.0 -

Ditto.....I'm going by myself. If there is nothing going on downtown, I will just hang with the fans at the venue and just have a 6 pack back at the room with a late night pizza8/26/98 - 9/2/00 - 4/28/03 - 7/5/03 - 7/6/03 - 10/3/05 - 5/22/06 - 5/27/06 - 5/28/06 - 6/1/06 - 6/3/06 - 6/24/06 - 7/7/06 - 7/9/06 - 7/10/06 - 8/5/07 - 6/19/08 - 6/20/08 - 6/22/08 - 6/24/08 - 6/25/08 - 8/21/09 - 8/23/09 - 8/24/09 - 10/27/09 - 10/28/09 - 10/30/09 - 10/31/09 - 5/6/10 - 5/7/10 - 5/9/10 - 5/20/10 - 5/21/10 - 9/3/11 - 9/4/11 - 9/2/12 - 7/19/13 - 10/11/13 - 10/18/13 - 10/19/13 - 10/21/13 - 10/22/13 - 4/28/16 - 4/29/16 - 8/20/18 - 4/7/18

Looking at Google Earth, those hotels are north of the venue. Downtown is directly south of the venue.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13
