I know. One of the few movies that cause me to stop flipping channels and stop down whenever I run across it.

    The perfect movie.

Good movie. That shark looked so fake though.

This actually made the movie better.

It looked bad enough that this is why they went with the choice to make the "looking through the eyes of the shark" for many of the shark scenes ... thus limiting the amount of times you actually see a shark ... which, makes the movie so great. Fear of the unknown. Couple that with the sound track ... genius (even if by accident).

read the trivia on imdb about the movie ... good stuff.

i agree that it made it better. Plus since the shark didnt work most of the time they came up with using the barrels, and that made it scary without seeing the shark.

man i love this movie. the book rocked too.

actually it was because the shark didn't work...the first time they tried to use it, it sank...so the amount of shots of the shark you see were the times it was working...and those are quick shots :mrgreen:

No DNA test necessary to determine if he is Robert Shaw's son.

  • Showing in the cinema here in August. One time showing. But it's a DCP so fuck it.

True Romance on 35mm later in the fall though!

LOVE IT.  My wife and daughter hate it.
My mother told me a story when she saw it in the theatre, she tossed her popcorn all over the people behind her when the head popped out of the boat.

I had five movies on tape when I was a kid in the 80's, and these are probably still the five movies I know best...

Star Wars (all three of the originals, but I'll count it all as one)
    Temple of Doom
    Goonies
    Ghostbusters
    Jaws
Now that’s a list of great movies.

Jaws... one of my all time favourites, never tire of watching it. So many great scenes and lines. I read the book about ten years ago. Quite different in
some aspects. Found the Brady character one of the biggest differences. Also enjoy watching documentaries about the movie....about how the shark didn’t work etc...
