  • HUGE difference in quality of bands, tour, and music

    that's purely subjective, however, i agree 100%.

Cant really compare the bands but compare their prices at the same venue the same year :

Gren Day Ticket Prices at the Spectrum this July, worst seat : $25
Pearl Jam Ticket Prices at the Spectrum this October, worst seat : $77

Gren Day Ticket Prices at the Spectrum this July, best seat : $50
Pearl Jam Ticket Prices at the Spectrum this October, best seat : $77

HUGE difference in quality of bands, tour, and music, but also a HUGE difference in price
So you are telling me PJ cant keep prices a little bit lower?

Interesting . . . I do think it is wise to say "Cant really compare the bands". Plus, there can be so many differences including, 3 piece v. 5 piece, different support needs, etc.

I would expect Green Day, Phish, and Radiohead to be lower than PJ as well.

People you're paying under $100 to see the best live band out here who else would you pay that for i for one can't think of another that i'm willing to pay for ,and like someone else posted when PJ was brave enough to stand up against the TM machine most of you were in your diapers and no other band stood besides them if you wanna blame anyone for high ticket prices blame U2,METALLICA,ROLLING STONES,THE WHO..just to name a few ..... no one wated to fight the fight with them ........and this writter seems like dickhead ...
Metallica tickets are cheaper, with two price points, $50 and $70. Just looked it up on ticketmaster. Of course there's fees, but the base price is still cheaper than Pearl Jam. U2 tickets are overpriced, but they have a HUGE stage setup and you can still buy nosebleeds for $30.

i'm tired of these idiotic statements. first off, there is a ticket monopoly and pearl jam's hands are tied. they don't have complete control. when they tried to fight this battle, NO ONE stepped up and had their backs. also, a lot of fans(or so called fans)at the time even turned their heads the other way. it seems people want pearl jam to play for free these days. as a band of their stature, they have overhead and others need to be paid too. they are not going to go on tour and end up in the red. with all of the charitable donations this band contributes to, you should think twice about them ripping off their own fans. so, deal with the prices. it is what it is on how things are run in the concert business.

Right on!! I wish more people would think the way you do.

In 1993 I paid 75.00 for Eagles tickets (good ones)

today they charge as much as 225.00 for those seats.

pearl jam charging a little more than they could or should?....ehh maybe. It's pretty damn close to the low end of the average.

are you really going to complain over a couple of bucks? meh.

how many bands play for 2 and a half hours regularly?

as usual with these threads....making something out of nothing.

I would too, but if I were to consider pj's history and what they have believed in, fought for and practiced in the cpast, then I am not so sure..

I think their ticket prices are ok these days. They are not good, but not too bad either.

Green Day and U2 sell more records than PJ and also put their music in every other commercial on TV. I have no problem with the prices if they keep putting on a great show.
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

Oh, so you think that the band becoming conformists in their older age is normal, and going back on the very essence of what defined them as a band shouldn't be questioned. Very nice. Says a lot about the ME generation.

umm no, I'm saying that battle has been fought and LONG lost. TM won. welcome to the real world.

They are low comparitive to big acts today. it's a fact. They are hardly elton john, Barbara streisand, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, U2, among others.

The front row of any show is 77.00. Maybe the 10c should discontinue tix for a tour. Try getting a front row ticket for 77.00 off TM (ooops sold out) or stubub (ooops, one thousand times face value). pearl Jam and the 10c have strived to make sure the best tickets got into hands of fans....

that, to me is what defines them as a band. the rest is just simple economics.

  • Wilco in London costs 65 quid, PJ is about 45.

A concert, once or twice a year, costs the same a football match, it's still a great deal.

    nice burn

if the band didnt' charge 70 bucks or more they wouldn't get the amount of fan club tickets that they do and people would bitch bout that. this isn't 94 anymore stop holding onto something that's been dead for 15 years now.
