So when did you first listen to pearl jam?

18, I was born in 89, I was first aware of them with the song daughter in 93, but to be real honest the ones that had my interest were NIRVANA,Soundgarden, and Meat Puppets.

well what can I say I was a young kid with a music and i could not digest all of thoses at the sametime lol. around 97 when grunge was actually considered dead thats when i was all cought up with the rest of the scene lol.

edited: yeah my dad was in the 20's and was into that music at the time so thats how I know everything lol.

i got into PJ sometime in 1991-92. i remember seeing the "Alive" video and thinking to myself, "this is important, i need to buy this". i was around 11 at the time. side note: this is before the "Jeremy" craze started because i know for a fact i owned the cassette when i saw the premire on MTV.

buying Ten sorta led me to other big artists at the time.. i have to give MTV alot of credit too. w/out them i would never have listened to some of the stuff i got into later on.

i bought every PJ album the day it was released ever since regardless of where i was or what i was doing. the day a new PJ record comes out is a big day for me. i remember requesting off work, it is an event for me.

quick edit: my dad raised me on The Who, Neil Young and Springsteen so it was sorta cool that i could talk to my dad about my favorite band and cite their influences... you know, point them out in interviews and show it to him. i love Pearl Jam.

I got into PJ when Ten first came out. Loved all the music then after not too much of the late 70's and early 80's. I was 36 then and 52 now. :)

  • awesome keep the stories coming.
  • I saw them for the first time in 1991, I was 13 and had no clue as to who they were and had never heard of them before, I saw them one night on vacation in NY and my cousins were sneaking me in the club that night :D

When I heard Ed sing Garden... he put his spell on me.... so doing the math that was 16 years ago :) and you were two I believe, that just made me realize Im getting old!!!!! :( - LOL!

    I'm 30 next sunday

I remember when 10 was released I wasn't really a fan. I was into heavier stuff like slayer and still riding the Gun n Roses train. When vs was release i started to take a listen. Once I saw them live it sealed the deal and haven't looked back since. Best live band I've ever seen!!

    I'm 29 years old...

I can totally see a kid so young into that kind of music...
My sons are 8, 6 and 3 and they all sing Pearl Jam songs, know every band member name, and are inquisitive about the music we love..
