so...f'ing...heavy...amazing!
just bummed that there's no face-melting solo by Jerry. I guess he's saving them for the rest of the album.Beavis: All my friends are brown and red? What does that mean?
Butthead: It means that his friends are like turds and that they like suck.
Beavis: Heh heh. Oh yeah. Yeah! Get those spoons out of my face before I shove them up your butt!
Butthead: Huh huh.0 -

If I had one complaint it would be that the song is just a little too long so it tends to ramble. But other than that, fucking ROCK!!!! And welcome back AIC.DAL-7/5/98,10/17/00,6/9/03,11/15/13

just heard it from AIC website. Pretty good. can't wait to support their music and tour.:)0
-
Like others have stated, it is on the AIC site for the taking and it doesn't hold back. Good stuff.
The tour is also listed on the site and I'll be seeing them for damn sure. Pretty amazing year. I already saw Chris Cornell from the 10th row this year play a greatest hits from Soundgarden and Audio Slave (despite mixing his new stuff). I'll also be at Chicago for both PJ shows, and then a month later, I'll be at the AIC, in Milw.
Pretty rare now to be able to see all three in the same year. At least in the last 15 years.0 -
I can honestly say I am impressed.0
-
Exceeded all my expectations. I’m LOVIN it!0

Now we just need to see the video, which I thought would be out already because they had that trailer up on their website
Anyone from New York know if its getting radio play? I don't listen to the radio much and hell, we don't even have a modern rock station to play it on. Is Q104 playing it?0 -
The video is up on www.aliceinchains.com. Kind of like a short film, very edgy. The part with the older man in a church hitting himself reminded me of the Jeremy music video.0

it's crap. sounds disingenuous. they want to release an album under the name Alice in Chains, fine. but they shouldn't have replaced Layne with someone doing an impression of him.Jam out with your clam out.0

I haven't listened to much of the new singer, but I don't think he sounds too much like Layne. I think it really shows how responsible Cantrell really is for the AIC sound.
I can take or leave the new song, but the heavier AIC has always been hit and miss for me.0 -

About half way down in the article, it says that Layne's family is ok with them carrying on. I remember AC/DC having this fate as well. Given that all the shows in 2006 sold out on a headlining tour should indicate the band will be well recieved still. I'll definitley give the new album a listen.
went ahead and pulled it from the article:
"Among the visitors to their recording sessions was Staley's mother, who, along with other family members, has expressed ongoing support for the band. "It was really important that it was OK with them," says manager Susan Silver, who first began representing Alice in Chains 21 years ago and now co-manages the resurrected band with David Benveniste and his Velvet Hammer firm. "There were a lot of baby steps. The first year especially was such a profound healing for everybody."
"There was some initial resistance from within the industry in 2006, particularly from U.S. promoters, she says, but that has largely changed. When Benveniste, who also represents System of a Down, Deftones and Cypress Hill, began approaching record labels with a sampling from the new sessions, the offers started coming from virtually every major label; the band eventually signed with Virgin/EMI".
