it's crap. sounds disingenuous. they want to release an album under the name Alice in Chains, fine. but they shouldn't have replaced Layne with someone doing an impression of him.
I haven't listened to much of the new singer, but I don't think he sounds too much like Layne. I think it really shows how responsible Cantrell really is for the AIC sound.
I can take or leave the new song, but the heavier AIC has always been hit and miss for me.
Yeah, I agree, but of course he is trying to fit in with the Alice in Chains sound so to say he's doing an impression of Layne is wrong, because he isn't, but why would you expect his voice to be totally different? That would be a hard sell for fans expecting Alice in Chains to sound like Alice in Chains.
Check out Comes With the Fall, DuVall's other band. And then when we hear the rest of Black Gives Way to Blue we can really judge just whether or not he's imitating Layne. So far I just think he's augmenting his style to fit the Alice sound, but he already fit their dark quality.
I do think the new song is too long. When you hit the seven minute mark, you have more variety in the song, or you have to be telling a long, wordy story like old Bob Dylan songs.
hows the presale work for tomorrow?? is there a password i should know?? if so, does someone have it for me?
I don't think there's a band sponsored pre-sale.
There is a citibank credit card presale though. That's not a password, you have to have their credit card.

dont have a citi card... theres a spot for an internet presale password and a Q101/loop presale password... anyone??
Some video of them playing A Looking In View live and a few others from the July 18th show opening for Kid Rock. Shitty crowd, also Cantrell's voice sounds kind of weak live on A Looking In View, he sounds a lot better on the studio version. DuVall sounds pretty good though, I think he has gotten A LOT better live since 2006.
