  • My favorite would have to be Last Kiss from Vegas 6/6/03...

    what was the screw up?

Right before the 2nd verse, Stone completely forgets the pre-verse guitar riff, and the entire crowd is cheering him on. Pretty sweet!

Finally! I was reading through all of these wondering how no one could have mentioned that. Ed completely blows it, singing the second verse when he is supposed to sing the first, and then when it comes time for the second, he sings the first, and then pretty much gives up. I love that version.
words seem so out of place.

No matter how many times I hear it, I smile. So classic.

The best is how he blames us for screwing it up...

    biggest live screwup?????

    CINCY 2006.............

    cincy was epic.

my favorite was in Kitchener when Ed started to play Soon Forget, twice, and he blamed his eukele, twice, for screwing up the song.
    Nice shirt.
  • why go from bristow in '03 was pretty horrible...

it was the first time they'd played it in years, i suppose to get all the rust off of it for when they played it at mansfield III.

it starts pretty decent, but theres a timing fuckup a minute or two into it. its pretty horrible ha.

not a massive screw-up, but ed screws up the words to black during the unplugged show.

he sings the 'how quick the sun can drop away' part in the first verse instead of 'i know she gave me all that she wore'... he even gives a little shake of his head right afterwards, probably realizing the goof. but when he sings it the second time, he puts a little more into the lyric and it sounds great.

This isn't huge either, but in Santa Barbara '06 Ed forgets the bridge in "U" and adds it at the end, the "you break laws and pay no fine" part and says he missed it because he was thinking about nature. It was funny if you were there.
  • At the first St. John's show, Ed epically screwed up one of the verses to Last Kiss, and could not seem to correct it despite his best drunken efforts!

Same show, after bringing that girl out on stage, I think it took him five tries to get Leaving Here off the groud and running. It was hilarious because after the second or third try, he blamed it on the guys being distracted by the girl. After the third or fourth screw up, he blamed it on the fact it was in fact he who had simply forgotten how to play the song!

And then they rocked it out and it was glorious!

On the otherwise awesome version of Masters of War from Benaroya, one of the guys is really screwing up the tempo on guitar. Ed has to wait for the guitars to sync up before he continues singing at one point.

    everytime they play evenflow.

you think ed would know the lyrics after playing a song for 15 years.

"speedy-flow" as i like to call it. go back to playing it like it was back in the early 90s when it actually had a funky groove to it. save the punk playing for power chords.
