Sorry to be repetitive,

The tickets for both Chi-town shows are bought, the flight and hotel is booked... I'm staying at the Double Tree Hotel at Magnificent Mile. I have two questions 1.) Is there an easier way to get from O'Hare to the hotel other than paying $49 a piece round trip for the "Go Express airport shuttle"? and 2.)What is the best way to get from Magnificent Mile to the United Center?

Any help you guys could give would be great! Thanks again... sorry for being a pain!

Cheers and Rock On,
Jim

Im at work so ill give better info later...
From O'hare take Blue Line train into city, have to check on exact stop, but it's around a 45 minute train ride and will cost you 2.25 a person although I advice buying a cta pass at the airport so then it's 2$ a ride per person.

There is a ton of local transportation to take you to united center, but in all honesty a cab ride there won't be to bad. Ill check back later
Further back and forth a wave will break on me, today...

When I went to Chicago I did this and it worked out nicely... It was my first time in Chicago and had no idea where I was going... I ended up where I needed to be and it was cheap too.

I agree with previous advice: By all means take the train into the city from o'hare. there are signs in every terminal directing you to them.
and a taxi from your hotel to the united center shoouldn't set you back more than $15 - well worth it. There will be taxis out front after the show, too. I don't want to overstate things, but you really don't want to be wandering much around the neighborhood where the united center is located.

ok as far as train ride in, you'll want to take Blue line to Jackson stop. Get off there and you will have a few options. If you're going to have a lot of luggage you can either take a short cab ride (5-10 minutes north), you can transfer to Red line train (take this towards Howard and get off at Chicago stop, then you'll have to walk about 5-6 blocks south and 2 or so east), you can jump on the 22 or 36 bus headed north and get off any where around ohio street, or if your traveling light, you can get off at Jackson and walk north up state street to hotel. It's a bit of a hike but then you'd actually see almost the whole mag mile... i know that was a lot of info typed in a hurry. Any other questions, let me know!

You can get to the United Center via the blue line too. Take it from the Mag Mile to UIC Medical. Walk to the Damen exit, hang a right, and walk down 2-3 blocks to Madison. When there is an event, you'll see traffic cops and all the traffic. Completely easy to find. I do that for any event there, and will for the PJ shows as well. Good luck! Enjoy Chicago.

Everyone here is right on with the blue line L... it's in the basement of the airport and very easy to get onto.

However, I would say don't bother taking the blue line all the way downtown as people have suggested.

The easiest route for you is to get off the L train at the Chicago Ave stop instead of going all the way downtown. Once you get off there, you can get on the 66 bus (Chicago Ave) heading east (I can tell you how to figure out which way that is) and it will cross the Mag Mile and turn right and then drop you off at Ohio and Fairbanks, which is exactly where the Doubletree is. I used to live in a high rise right around there. The L trip is about $2 plus the transfer is about 25 cents. Cheap and easy and you don't have to worry about hauling luggage anywhere.

Getting to the UC is a bit touchier... it's not really convenient for public transit. A taxi would probably be your best bet. If you're really desperate to avoid a taxi, I can probably give you directions to take buses to the UC, which should be ok, but I'd still not recommend relying on that for the ride home.

That's true--the #66 bus is easier. Everytime I've been on it though it's been packed to the doors. Be careful about that, as you can always wait another 5-7 mins for another. As for the UC, I just saw a show there on the 14th of June, and about 30 people got off the EL at UIC Medical as I did, and walked up to the UC. The area is much nicer than it once was(and still has a reputation for being), and since the train runs 24/7, you can test it out during the day to grab your Ten Club tix.
