Greatest movie EVER. This can't be disputed.
"OK, well then can you tell me where there's a good restaurant or hotel on the island?"
" --ah...you walk straight ahead."
Hilarious
....Here lies the body of Mary Lee, died at the age of a 'hundred and three, for fifteen years she kept her virginity, not a bad record for this vicinity....0 -
I read the book when I was eleven. I remember loving all the swear words in it so much that I underlined them all. :oops:0

I'll never forget seeing it with the family as a youngster (like 9) in a theater while on vacation on Cape Cod. A hot summer day, we went to the movies to get some AC. I remember the sensation in the dark theater while the music would play during those early underwater scenes filmed from the shark's perspective...felt like something was swimming under the seats, I lifted my feet up on my chair.
Then when the movie ended, we returned to our rented cottage and went down to the beach. I got ankle deep in the water and could go no further.
Masterful film, too bad Spielberg became so full of himself later on.This weekend we rock Portland0 -

I love Jaws . This movie was the reason I became so fascinated with sharks, especially White Sharks. Finally acted on this fascination is 2006 when I went into a cage to look at White Sharks off The Great Barrier Reef . One more great reason to go to OZ when PJ tours there."Buy the ticket, take the ride"

probably my favorite movie of all time
Quint is definitely my favorite character of all time
Quint: What are you? Some kind of half-assed astronaut?
Quint: Jesus H Christ, when I was a boy, every little squirt wanted to be a harpooner or a sword fisherman. What d'ya have there - a portable shower or a monkey cage?
Hooper: Anti-Shark cage.
Quint: Anti-shark cage. You go inside the cage?
Quint: Cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark's in the water. Our shark.
Quint: Farewell and adieu to you, fair Spanish ladies. Farewell and adieu, you ladies of Spain. For we've received orders for to sail back to Boston. And so nevermore shall we see you again0 -
Without a doubt in my top three favorites of all time!
Totally agree about QUINT. But all the characters in the film kick ass.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MOVIE.Get em a Body Bag Yeeeeeaaaaa!

Ellen Brody: Martin hates boats. Martin hates water. Martin... Martin sits in his car when we go on the ferry to the mainland. I guess it's a childhood thing. It's a... there's a clinical name for it isn't there?
Brody: Drowning.one of my all time favorite movies EVER !
the banter back and forth between Brody , Hooper and Quint shaped me a lot in my writing when it comes to dialogue.
Going to have to watch this tonight !!

Good movie. That shark looked so fake though. These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.0

it didnt look so fake in 1975Peace, Love.

lol..yeah I see your point.
This actually made the movie better.
It looked bad enough that this is why they went with the choice to make the "looking through the eyes of the shark" for many of the shark scenes ... thus limiting the amount of times you actually see a shark ... which, makes the movie so great. Fear of the unknown. Couple that with the sound track ... genius (even if by accident).
read the trivia on imdb about the movie ... good stuff."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

i agree that it made it better. Plus since the shark didnt work most of the time they came up with using the barrels, and that made it scary without seeing the shark.
man i love this movie. the book rocked too.Peace, Love.

actually it was because the shark didn't work...the first time they tried to use it, it sank...so the amount of shots of the shark you see were the times it was working...and those are quick shots0 -
