Eddie played this last year. It was amazing.
REALY!!!
WHERE AND WHEN...
It was at the first Chicago show last year. It was awesome. I couldn't believe what I was hearing at the time.0 -

Ya know a song I'm listening to right now that I think he could do a good job on would be Zevon's "Carmelita." Yeah.0

I 100% agree with Eddies version of Millworker. Also like his cover of Tom Petty's Won't back down.0

Also like his cover of Tom Petty's Won't back down.
The version from the 90's. It was on the bootleg "and the pearls sweep" I think. Just an amazing performance.
I'd love to hear him do "House of the Rising Sun"."I read about the evils of drinking, so I gave up reading." - Henry Youngman0 -
Masters of War and Sonic Reducer. Thanks EPOTTSIII!

there is only one song that ed/pj has covered that i prefer the original, and that is driven to tears - the police (i think that is the police tune they covered...don't remember it now b/c i listened once, was horrified  and never listened again esp since the police were 'the pj of my youth
). the band was stellar, ed simply doesn't have the voice/sound for it. almost all his/their covers i like as much as, and oftentimes much MORE than, the original. i actually prefer every single who song that pj covers, covered by pj, rather than played by the who. :P oh, i did really enjoy ed/ben's cover of under pressure....but yea......queen/bowie......just can't top that. but sure, otherwise almost all others......ed is THE voice for me!

The other original I prefer is "Timeless Melody" -- PJ was good, but The La's nailed that."They said ... timing was everything
made him ... want to be everywhere
there's a ... lot to be said for nowhere."0 -

Now in all fairness, I've only heard a pretty bad youtube version.
But Eddie's tag is AWESOME, and I wouldn't describe the original that way.
Good Call... that tag is such a gem... I love that.
Here's another tag that is very underrated imo (never even seen it mentioned)
Ed's tag of "Why Can't I Touch it"at the end of Wishlist on the MSG DVD... another beautiful moment I think. It's a cover of the BuzzCocks (I had to look it up... thanks ask.com).
off the top of my head... here's are a few more covers that I really thought were great.
with some of these, its not quite proper to say better than the original... the original artists being some of the biggest musical legends that exist (but I think they are better)... though its pretty safe to say I would love to hear Ed sing pretty much anything.
Dock of the Bay - Otis Redding
I've Got a feeling - the Beatles
Can't Help Falling in Love - Elvis
National Anthem

Eddie's / PJ's cover of "I Got You" by the Split Enz tops my list.give this a look: www.borgenproject.org0

Ed does crown of thorns so well. I wish pj would play the full version.

Forgive me if this was posted, but, I don't think I saw it ....
While I like Tom Waits' version, there is something special about Ed's version of Picture in a Frame."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91
"I don't believe in damn curses. Wake up the damn Bambino and have me face him. Maybe I'll drill him in the ass." --- Pedro Martinez0 -

The wishlist IMPROV song on the MSG 03 DVD was a once in a life time performance. im very glad they recorded and made available that show.
My daughter had given me the Live at the Garden DVD last x-mas. WISHLIST, IN MY TREE, FAITHFULL, I AM MINE are poetic masterpieces matched by a melodic tempo that puts one in a trance. Once they are sung they stay in my head most of the day. Mike and Stone know voodoo..0 -
THROW YOUR ARMS AROUND ME !!
Im thinking of great songs that ED didnt cover that he can VEDDERIZE and reinvent them.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?0 -
it will be blasphemy to some here...but I think he does Baba and Reing o''er me better than Roger.
