    love reign
(really any who song - like daltrey, LOVE vedder) no offense to roger, it's just that vedder's voice does more.
ed does more cause he's trying to use his voice that we are used to and put his spin on it.

  • Let's try it.....
What songs do you think that Edddie Vedder can cover and make better. He's made so many already but there is more to discover. in addition' what PJ song do you think is their best live performance (VENUE AND DATE)?

    My fav's

Bob Dylan's Forever Young Boston 06

    forever young the DEFINITIVE VERSION
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TLygQpSiyU

have you seen dylan and the band do this song on the last waltz? no offense to eddie but um the better version of that song is certainly not boston 06 ;) so um eddie did not make this song better, imo

no offense meant, just saying...and of course it's ALL just personal opinion anyways, so um

ed's good, and there are some days he's real real good

not even pj's versions of those quad tunes at the who tribute beat the original. tho, close is good enough for me! and there are very few bands who can do justice to quad like they did.

ed was sick that weekend of the who rock honors.i was at the who rock honors concert and was impressed by pj outta all the bands besides the who. I'm more of a who fan than a pj fan and mike stood out the most to me outta everyone in pj.

  • Pretty much whatever he sings - I can't get enough of his voice! It's hard to describe...he just connects.. I literally feel ALIVE when I listen to him sing, it's very powerful. He puts his own touch on all the covers he does - dusting off classics and bringing them to a new generation, what's not to like? :D

Forever Young - He dedicated this to his daughter Philly night 1 (solo) it was STUNNING...the emotion was literally pouring from his voice..just beautiful!
Trouble - I remember the first time I heard him sing this..I was totally mesmerized..that moment is locked in my mind forever - It's crystal clear.
Love Reign O'er Me - Haven't heard this live yet but REALLY appreciate the boots..chills...
    Save it for Later
    Throw your Arms Around Me
    The Real Me
Baba O'Riley - now when I hear the original version it just doesn't seem right!
Let my Love Open the Door - LOVE this one!!!!!

Edit: It's Ok (especailly Gorge '06 - probably my fav. tag ever- so meaningful and true!) and Soldier of Love
  • I can't believe no one has mentioned "I am a Patriot" yet.

Millworker is definitely done better by Eddie, sorry corduroykelly.

Another one is "The Waiting" by Tom Petty. When Pearl Jam and Petty were doing some shows together a few years back, Eddie would come out and sing this with the Heartbreakers. I love Petty and all, but Eddie's vocals in that song are incredible...even Petty said "you haven't heard this song until you've heard Eddie Vedder sing it" during one of the shows.

Eddie did sing hurt his last solo tour..sounded pretty good

I never would have guessed he'd cover a NIN song, but after Cash did it, that's what probably clinched it.

Trent and ED are from the outskirts of Chicago. Both in the same environment as youngsters. Lots of talent their.

Wasn't Trent Reznor born in Pennsylvania & then moved to Ohio? (according to wikipedia)

No mention of Chicago, or Illinois for that matter
A child's rhyme stuck in my head...
It said "Life is nothing but a dream."
I've spent so many years in question
To find I'd known this all along.

    8-)

The Johnny Cash version is pretty hard to top - but I always thought Ed could do a great job on this.

Masters of War is definitely up there....
When I was in college I was working at this restaurant at the beach and I worked with this old hippie dude who was a huge Dylan fan. I guess this was around 94-95 and he had heard Eddie & Mike's version of Master of War on the "Bob Dylan-The 30th Anniversary Concert Celebration" cd. Anyway, he came up to me one day, and said have you ever heard of this "eddie vedder guy"? I immediately lit up and explained to him yes, I've heard of him..he's the singer of my favorite band. He proceeded to explain to me that he had heard Masters of War a thousand times before, but when he heard Eddie sing it, it made him fill up with so much emotion that it brought him to tears.
I've been able to hear it live as well and it's an incredibly powerful song.
Show #13 was a lucky one for me....

The Waiting is great. Ed's vocal was perfect.

Brownsville Station - Smokin in the Boys Room?
  • Fortunate Son- CCR
25 Minutes To Go- Not sure it's better than the Johnny Cash version, but it's pretty damn good.
Rockin In The Free World- Didn't see it mentioned , but I had to have just missed it.

And I agree 1000% with the guy who said "Ripple". I've been hoping for years to hear them do that.
