Listening to shows you went to...

totally beats listening to a boot of a random show.

I'm sitting here listening to Betterman from MSG 2.. I had chills from when we (The Crowd) helped Ed out when he messed up... and started singing the song again.

When you listen to a show you were at it's totally different, different in ever way imaginable. You can recall exactly what you were feeling during this song and that song. The memories of that day, the people you met, and the people you sang with in the crowd, instantly becoming pals for 3 hours.

For anyone who has gone to a show this next video will make you get those butterflies again. It describes PERFECTLY the feeling we all get.. the anticipation building each second. Music plays.. slowly lowers LIGHTS GO DOWN... Pearl Jam.

I think that's relatively true... I tend to listen to boots from shows that I've been to more vs. ones I haven't.

I don't buy any bootlegs from shows I wasn't at anymore. The only live stuff I have other than shows I attended is the official live albums (benaroya, lo2l) and some burns of shows early day shows (basically, the radio broadcasts... Atlanta 94, Soldier Field 95, etc).

I pretty much only buy the bootlegs of shows I've been at. I have a few from other shows, but I limit myself to those that I have visual images in my head... that I can replay while I'm listening to them.

Me too. I do have the boots from some of the "classic" shows in recent years, but I still listen to the shows I was at 9 times out of 10.

Yeah, I'm pretty much done with boots of shows I was not at ... if someone suggests something, I may find it and take a listen but, I've been extremely fortunate to be at enough amazing shows ... (Boston Orpheum show of 94 (wow), The Mansfield trio in 03, San Fran 3 from 06, last year's Mansfield and MSG shows, etc etc ....)

Curretnly listeing to Mansfield 1 from 2000 ... this show kicked a ton of ass.

It just means more when you can remember being there, remember the vibe, your firends ... the experience.

Still love to listen to Penn State '03. Because I was there, and caught a pick from Mike.

I used to collect all the shows but stopped after 2005 or so.

I listen to Alpine 03 almost daily. :D

I agree with the original post-You have an attachment to the songs since you were there witnessing the music being made.

Although there is the occasional great version of a song that totally blows your mind, I find that I mostly listen to shows that I have been to.

Damn I wish they would release the Ed Solo shows...why oh why won't they???

I think about the only live music I listen to at all are the PJ shows I've been to. Of course, there are few other all time great live albums that get some love.
