"Pearl Jam, please come to our city and perform your music. Nourish us and share with us your experience and observations about this life through song."

And thus it is so: Chicago, United Center, August 23-24 2009.

Let the healing begin.

Yup, I am so tired of dumb asses who forget this is just a band. A great band, my favorite band without any doubt. However, it's not a religion. Stop the stupidity.

Thank god! Their county & sesame street stye of music playing made many of us fall to sleep, when they opened for Neil Young here in Halifax! So wished Death Cab For Cutie played here! But they only played during Young's West Coast dates. :(

Well... if you'd use your head...

Wilco will have PLENTY of time to get back and forth while PJ is on stage for 40+ songs the first night and even longer the second night.

I don't think it's nonsense to assume that these shows are going to constitute a high point in the history of Pearl Jam. They are not gonna screw around. Chicago yearns for Pearl Jam.

    1. Wilco Opening
    2. 40+ songs
    3. 100% 10club show
    4. Playing bushleaguer, indifference etc

Doesn't a man have the right to dream?

Putting aside my more speculative assumptions, I think we can all agree: something special is already in the air for the Chicago shows. I can feel it in my bones. This ain't gonna be just any two-night stand . . . the band is going to take the opportunity to make a righteous stand for its own greatness, the importance of its fan base and, more generally, the communal ethic of rock and roll. Look for them to do something like Mansfiled 2003, treating these not just as a couple of shows, but as some sort of unified statement that cements the Pearl Jam legacy.

i'm going to both of these shows, but a small part of me hopes these are the two worst shows pearl jam ever plays just so this guy can look like an even bigger fool, and just so i can laugh at him for the rest of my 10C days on this board.

I would never hope for Pearl Jam to have a poor live concert performance. I love the band and its fans too much for that -- just the thought you could hope that makes me feel very bad for you. Pearl Jam is about feeling the love brother! You are going to see them at two very special Chicago shows! Rejoice! :D:mrgreen::lol: :P

I think when you are 15 or 16, it's somewhat normal to be enamored with a band to the point of obsession/religion. That mostly applies to females but also to a certain extent, boys. It's something you should grow out of though. I love the band but they are not the be all/end all of life like some people make them out to be. Enough with the Chicago threads.
