Philly - Spectrum?? - there's still hope.

From today's Daily news...

The Spectrum still has an 11-day run of Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and shows from Dane Cook and Green Day scheduled. A final concert could be scheduled for Sept. 30, the 42nd anniversary of the building's opening, but no official closing date or event has been announced.

**PJ needs to step it up and take that date.

    would be WAY convenient if pj would come east, philly, wherever...but honestly, i'd not hold my breath. given the 'current information' rubysdad posted, i am thinking westcoast shows and only westcoast shows.

    Philly Phans Rock!

    Sometimes you go to a show and it's a wine and cheese crowd. No such thing in Philly.

    It's a parking lot full of crazies fueled on hours of pre-show. The build up to when the lights drop and the band walks out. Every one on their feet, with their dancing shoes tied on tight. From first note to last, the energy builds, intensifies; both band and crowd wanting more. Hands clap in unison. Eddie, verse. Audience, chorus. A mutual love fest.

    From their first show at Dobb's with heckling dirtbags to the Spectrum shows to the Phila/NJ lost highway; the band has enjoyed Philadelpia's brotherly love.

    How can you forget the Spectrum? You can smell the years of spilled beer, misfired urine, humanity's sweaty essence, and cigarette/marijuana smoke. Blue collar, rough, and ready to rock. They eat Bruce for breakfast, Sabbath for lunch, and PJ for dinner. Fine dining in Philadelphia.

    I always listen for the crowds on the discs. All are awesome, but Philly is always something special. Not because I was there, but because I know was lucky to be there. Blue collar, rough and ready to rock. They clap in the front, they cheer from the back. The whole place is alive!

    The Philly shows are always special. It is always great to see everyone. One more philadelphia saturday night? It would be nice. With 10 club seats or the last row on the block, always a good time.

    I can't imagine seeing them at the Wachoovia Center. It would be like the Veri-zon Center in DC. Sterile. "Please pass the cheese. Please, yes, I would like another glass of wine. Mims, you look radiant this evening. Charles, congratulations, I hear you passed the bar."

    An era of arenas never to return. Hell, the spectrum still has GA on the floor for some shows. I have taken my neices and nephew, and my oldest two children to see their favorite bands there. I am sorry the youngest four won't have the same experience. I saw the Dead there in 1993, mind blowing. This reminds me of losing the Cap Centre in Maryland. Progress...sometimes it sucks.

    I'm looking forward to Toronto and Chicago.
