Is it just me?

Does anyone else just not get the whole UFC, boxing, fighting thing?
Ok, I get the argument about admiring the technique, and to some extent 'skill'. At the end of the day though, it's still people trying to inflict physical pain to other human beings.
I watched 10 minutes of UFC the other day to see what it was like and make sure I wasn't jumping to conclusions - but I started to feel physically sick and so wrong watching it, it seemed so brutal. It can't be right to get pleasure from inflicting pain on others or watching pain be inflicted on them.
Is it just me?? Probably!

I don't have a problem with violent sports. I'll occasionally watch boxing and think fighting has its place in hockey. However, I've never had the desire to watch UFC. Just seems so pointless to me.
Golf doesn't really do it for me either.

With how popular it is I was beginning to think everyone was enamoured with it. Like I said, it just seems inherently wrong to derive pleasure from watching 2 thugs beat each other senseless. I know I'll probably get some stick for the use of the word 'thug', but I can't seem to separate them from the average beefcake charver/chav/cracker* wanting to pick a fight at the drop of a hat.

I've no time for UFC. Or wrestling. But let me explain the beauty of the noble art of boxing in one clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu2nKcfMS9A
Boxing used to be noble. Then, pretty much from the mid 80s until recently, it was such a mess. So many fixes. It seems to be coming back now, but I think UFC is stealing a lot of its thunder as far as viewership goes.
boxing hasn't been interesting since tyson...i remember as a kid watching ali, frazier etc and it was fun....but now...eh
Bingo.
It was like the sport was his own personal strip mine. He raped it for all it was worth and left nothing but a big hole in the ground.
yep!
Yes it will certainly comeback with the likes of boxers such as Manny "PACMAN" Pacquiao. By the end of the year if there could be a fight between the PACMAN and Merriwether will put boxing back in the limelight.
Peace

I think that since the spotlight has gone away from the heavyweights, some really interesting fighters have had a chance to step in and show what they can do, especially the lighter weight classes, which traditionally have always been undercards.

As an aside, mma has fewer long term effects on the fighters compared to boxing.
Me as well...UFC has never been anything special for me...it just appeals to me as a wrestling that doesn't have ricidulous stage names, costumes and scripts.
