a question just to pass the time until the brd wakes up from

Back in 1990, my sisters went to the RIP magazine party at the hollywood palladium. as a suprise at the end of the show guns n roses, and skid row both played, but they played each others songs. ( or so went the story my sisters told me ) I was jealous as hell being a guns and roses fan at the time, and so the next year, I went to the RIP magazine party that had shitty little bands like Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains on the bill so I could catch the suprise ending. well the show was amazing of course, and the suprise turned out to be Spinal Tap. so enough background for my question and on to the question itself..... IF Pearl Jam and another band played full set concerts of EACH OTHERS material, what band would be ideal??? do you go for the obvious Neil Young or The Who, or would you want to see something completely off the wall like Green Day or NIN? what band could even do justice to a full PJ material set?

This may be a stretch, but I feel that PJ and Tom Waits could have major potential. Tom is such a versatile musician, always has top-notch people working with him, and I think could do some really neat stuff - though it would all likely be RADICALLY different from the original PJ songs. Likewise for PJ with Tom's music. Not to mention the fact that EV and Tom have ranges that are similar.

I would LOVE to hear Eddie do "Whats he building in there?"..... PJ could do A LOT of waits tunes justice, and his early stuff, would really sound amazing. and it would be something to see what Waits would do with PJ.

I think the Who now would be awful. Not only would Pete struggle with the guitar playing, but Roger's voice aint what it used to be either. Pearl Jam covers are hard. You have to have a strong singer and competent musicians in the band. Maybe Janes Addiction or Soundgarden could make it interesting. Neither singer sounds like Eddie, but they could do their own thing with it. Maybe Tom Waits could really change the songs around to fit him.

I think the song I've always felt Eddie could pull off best would be Tom Traubert's Blues, or Invitation to the Blues. I can hear him now.. "It's a battered old suitcase, to a hotel someplace, and a wound that can never heal". Now THAT would be something special.

I don't know about the entire band, but if Eddie and Bruce Springsteen switched repertoires for an evening I would pay big bucks!

Pete could easily cover all but the shreddiest Mike solos. Definitely as good as Stone or Mike as an all around rock guitarist.

They've got little in common, except that they're all talented as hell. I'd see that in an instant. Not to mention Radiohead does GA pits in North America, so hopefully they could suggest that to PJ and I could have a chance of seeing my favourite band from up close! Touching the barrier at Radiohead was such a phenominal experience, one day I hope to do it for PJ too!
