The band seems to have some issue with Key Arena now, has said some bad things about the Tacoma Dome and can't sell out the Rose Garden. I kinda get the sense that they won't play the Gorge next time around and it seems unlikely that they'd play the memorial coliseum, the amp at clark county, the white river or whatever arena is in Spokane, I can't say why, thats just my intuition. It was good enough for Neil, why not Ed and the boys?
Anyway, what do you guys think?

Odds of actually getting a ticket have nothing to do with your number, that's just if you get lucky and get one before they're sold out.

Nah .........GM place in Vancouver holds over 18,600 for sports probably around 15,000 to 16,000 for concerts and PJ sale well here .......so why not just have a run of shows for those in the NW in Vancouver!

I'll take a pass on that. I'd rather deal with Seattle traffic than border security, thats for sure.0

Hey plenty of green on this side of the boarder no need to take it with you accross the line!

I'm surprised that they would not sell out the rose garden, is it that big or to far for people to travel too?...got a mind full of questions and a teacher in my soul...0

I'm actually not a pot smoker, but lemme tell you, I must look like one. Always a pain in the ass getting through that crossing.0

Its definitely bigger than Key Arena. There was someone on this board that talked to someone important there, this was during 2006 tour speculation, who said that the rose garden management wasn't happy with the ticket sales there in 2000. I think we all bought it because they haven't played there since, I still do. I think its worth mentioning though that in 2000 there were shows in Portland, Seattle and Boisie. I think if there was a west coast leg and Portland was the only NW show on the itinerary that they would certainly sell out the rose garden. Then again, they do play corporate amphitheaters pretty often so we may be looking at shows at white river and clark county.pjsteelerfan wrote:I'm surprised that they would not sell out the rose garden, is it that big or to far for people to travel too?0

The same venue three tours in a row? Just doesn't seem likely. Other venues they obviously have some affinity for usually get rotated, I'm thinking about Alpine Valley and MSG here (they did alpine in what, 00 and 03? and played a different place in 2006, and then MSG 03 and then 08). I remember at the last show Ed saying something like "we'll see you next time, maybe not here", someone can double check that but I strongly recall it. And the fact that they would sell it out once or twice is hardly a factor, they would sell out nearly any venue in the northwest if it was the only area show of the tour. I bet they could even do a stadium show, not that they would ever do that, just saying.0

it would be nice if they came back for a couple of nites and played the chan centre. it was a great venue when ed played solo, nice acoustics.
the best would b to see them again at the commodore ballroom.what a nite it was!"shes stoned said the swede, and the
mooncalf agreed" THe BANd0 -
They should just play the Edgefield Amphitheater in Portland 3 nights in a row.
That place was one of the cooler i've ever seen a show at. And it was MMJ“I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version.”0 -
On the Tacoma Dome - I tell you what, I just saw AC/DC there a couple nihts ago and the place was great! The sound was good, the dome hold over 20K people. Downtown Tacoma has plenty of bars and restaurants for before and after a show. Not to mention the link light rail that goes right to it. Yeah, I would be pleased as punch to have Pearl Jam play the Tacoma Dome and I think everyone would have a real good time. Well, how could we not if PJ was on stage. Yep, if the Tacoma Dome is good enough for AC/DC, then it is good enough for our very own Pearl Jam!!!
On The Gorge - I am not sure why you think they will never play there again. They and the crowds over the 2005 and 2006 shows seemed to have a real good time. I bet we see them at the Gorge again if they are touring or playing in the summer time. I would put money on it. Summer time Washington state show would go to the Gorge again.
On White River - that place fucking blows!! I hope they never ever play that shitty venue. First off, it is on the rainy side of the mountains and the parking situation is ATROCIOUS!! Nope, I would rather them play The Gorge if in the summer, or inside of an arena in the off weather season.
On The Key Arena - Yeah, a lot of people seem to be backing away from the Key. Ament said in an interview that it is horribly managed and they (the Key management) are terrible to work with. i agree that they will probably never play the Key again. Sad, because it is a great venue for concerts and sports. Not a bad seat in the house. I have seen some amazing shows there over the years.
On Memorial Stadium - Pearl Jam played there for the YIELD tour in 1998 and it was great! I remember it well. I could see them playing there again if in the summer...but again, summertime reverts back to the Gorge in my opinion.
On The Rose Garden - You know that is in Portland, right? Who wants to go to Portland?
- I kid I kid, I love Portland. But a little far away from their hometown of Seattle. While i would go - it is in Portland. Not where i would want a PNW show if we only get one city.
On the new Everett Arena - Yeah, I would be there. I would be happy if they played there.0 -
The Comcast in Everett is way too small. They could play there 4 nights in a row with the response from this town...especially since they have been absent for so long.
I agree the Gorge will be the spot for summer tours for here on out, and I love it there. I have seen so many awesome shows there, but the boys gotta play in town. As for the T-Dome, I think the place only still stands because it holds more folks than the Key. It is still a cool spot, and I have many nostalgic memories of shows, and games there, but the quality does not compare. I think we will see another Key show next tour. Hell, the management might change their tone after they have no Sonics cash coming in.
Portland is always a cool show, but they can easily support their own. There is enough fan base in each town to each have a bad ass show. Plus we have geography to deal with. The 'east coasters' can see 4 shows in about a 3.5 hour radius. Depending on what time you leave Sea-town, that is how long it takes to get to Portland. I know they understand their base here and will give us a show soon.0 -
Agree with all this except I can't say about White River as I've never been there. I've wanted to several times but it never worked out. Is it really that bad? Sad.aNiMaL wrote:On the Tacoma Dome - I tell you what, I just saw AC/DC there a couple nihts ago and the place was great! The sound was good, the dome hold over 20K people. To the border issue, I think it will get better as they are working quite a bit on the Olympics traffic and have made several improvements. I'd also recommend Nexus.

9k is pretty small compared to the najority of other arena and amphitheaters they play
play the Gorge, i will be there
2003 - Sydney x3,2006 - Reading Festival,2007 - Katowice, London, Nijmegen, Rock Werchter,2008 - MSG x2, Hartford, Mansfield x2, Beacon Theater,2009 - Melbourne, Sydney,2010 - I watched it go to fire!2011 - EV Brisbane x3, Newcastle, Sydney x3,2012 - Manchester x 2, Amsterdam x2, Prague, Berlin x2, Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen,2014 - Sydney, EV Sydney x3

That MMJ show was epic.
I think the Rose Garden doesn't sell out, because Portland show goer's are a little picky. If it's in arena, no one goes, Don't care who it is. I got an email from the promoter doing the NIN show this weekend and they're having a special ticket offer of $20 tickets. Since there are quite a few left over.
Overall the sound quality there sucks unless you're close, which is weird since that arena was supposedly designed with Acoustics in mind.NERDS!0
