There have been Alpine rumors for September but someone also posted a couple weeks ago saying they received a list from livenation of amphitheatre shows that had PJ listed for Alpine August 23rd. It was the only PJ show on the list. Also someone said they knew PJ was booked for the E-Center in Salt Lake City Sept. 28. Looks like ACL will likely be Oct. 2 or 3 so that makes sense.

The Philly rumours (Spectrum) seem to have lost a bit of steam though.
Last I heard they were "in talks" for this. Don't rule it out just yet.
I am certainly not ruling it out. In fact, I hope it does happen. I am just surprised that the Philly rumours, which initially started months ago have not gathered steam.

I have a feeling aside from the San Fran & Austin shows, they will do a few other dates on the West Coast (Seattle, Portland, Vancouver...). Then, new album and a big tour starting in the winter in South America, maybe Australia, then many dates in North America starting in the spring/summer of 2010.

US tour
August through October,
then SA, Asia or AUS/NZ before xmas
I would just wish they would announce it already, so I can plan my summer/fall.
yea..i booked bonnaroo last time cause i heard they weren't touring outside of that. then i had to scramble for the surrounding shows.
i dont wanna blow my loot w/o a full announcement
(i wasnt in 10c yet so i knew nothing)

A lot of people seem to think this and I don't know why.
First of all: I thought Ed said in a recent interview that there would be no touring in 2010 because a member of the band (Mike I think) was expecting a baby next year.
Secondly: the rumours out there right now don't point to a 10 shows tour. We KNOW about San Fran. ACL is pretty much a done deal. I can't imagine them playing a show on Aug 28 and another show on Oct 1 without filling the month in between with shows. 1 month is about 18-20 shows for them.
Thirdly: the rumours that have surfanced so far. Yes, I realize that some of them may be just that: rumours that will not materialize in to anything. But where there is smoke, there us usually fire. So, we have Toronto, Chicago, Alpine Valley, Philly and Salt Lake City. These places are not situated geographically to form a mini tour in the mold of the '08 tour. There would definitely be shows in between. I think most of us also agree that the south and or the west coast are due for shows this year and with the exception of SLC and the two festivals, the other rumoured shows are all in the mid west or North East.
To me, this doesn't add up to a 12-15 show tour like last year, which seems to be what many people are expecting. Just because Mike's quote was that they are going to "do a little thing in the US" this year, people seem to be equating that to a small '08-ish tour. But think about it: by past touring standards, even a 25 show tour would be a "little thing" for PJ relative to the norm. In 03 there were 72 shows. In 06 they played something like 50 or so. So 20 or 25 shows would be "a little thing" by their recent standards.
If the album does drop this fall, which is entirely possible, there is no way that they are going to play 10 shows to support it.
What I am thinking is that everything may be contingent on the album release. Maybe they do have tentative dates booked all over the country in August-October right now. If the album is ready for a late August or early September release, they go ahead and confirm those show. If not, maybe they cancel the dates.
Who knows what will happen. All of this speculation is fun, isn't it?

I also remember Jeff saying that they would like to do Europe in the next 18 months. Sound like a busy "non-touring" year is ahead

i don't understand what people think PJ's connection to the spectrum is. other than basketball its just another stadium, just another city.
Go back and check the 2003 boot from the Spectrum show. I wasn't even there, and I know how legendary it was. Ed spoke for quite a while about the building at the show. The sound is great for a large venue, and the crowd was on absolute fire. There's an electricity to the building that is indescribable (and that I can attest to, as I've been there for other events/concerts).
Another idea for a possible tour date is an appearance at the Bridge School Festival. They haven't played there since 06 and EV had to cancel at the last second in 08. I know that it's also in the Bay Area, but doesn't it make sense.
"Underneath this smile lies everything - all my hopes, anger, pride and shame."
and don't forget the obvious (maybe start to the tour), Outside Lands, SF 8-28
Yes, I assumed that and ACL were pretty much givens at this point so I didn't mention them, but they are both worth mentioning.
i am thinking west coast/south tour between these two shows. it makes sense; SF to austin TX.....hitting up stops in between/near these two spots. AFTER ACL, hit perhaps the midwest...and then head east for our BEAUTIFUL october weather? and i shall continue to dream that i will still have a shot of getting a fix of live pj close to home in 2009.
