    What the fuck?

Maybe he could start a band called SICKMAN and really knock the alternative scene on it's ear...

  • He was into heroin for a LOOOOOONNNNNG time. The cover for the album Dirt was a painting he did when he realized that he was probably never going to be able to quit, and the album is basically the chronicle of a junkie from beginning to end.

Hell of a loss... he and Eddie were probably the two most imitated voices from that time.

    To quote Jerry Cantrell:
It's getting a little ridiculous with all these new generation "grunge" bands. Sounds like there's 20 new Pearl Jams popping up everyday. Folks, there's already one Eddie Vedder and he's doing quite fine.

That's Demri on the cover of DIRT by the way....

Is that he is unable to defend his honor against the horrid, horrid band GODSMACK

Fuck yourself Sully...fuck yourself sideways with the biggest watermelon in the patch...

Hey man, it's cool if you hate Godsmack. Personally I like them. They chose an AIC song as a tribute because they were a legendary band. Godsmack in no way resemble grunge or try to copy their style in any way. IF Layne were still alive, why would he have to defend himself against a highly successful band. Even though you hate them, you can't deny that they are successful in another style of music. I honestly don't think he would have any beef, seeing that Godsmack became successful 4 years before Layne's death.

  • GODSMACK rips off the sound, their 'logo' is basically an AIC logo...their name is a TRIBUTE??!!! I can't even argue any further if you don't think they sound similar...are you a cat? maybe a tree frog? You cannot be a human because any human would know that your statement is, in a word, nuts.

    wow...

P.S. I'm not using profanity because if, and I really mean IF you are a human, you are an infant and cussing at babies is NEVER cool..... :P

WOW, ease up on the obsession. How in any way does Godsmack sound like AIC?????? have you ever listened to them? They are more metal than grunge. So you're only argument is a logo? Tree frog.. Man, immature doesn't cover it with you. Look, you can hate Godsmack I am totally cool with that. But if that's all you got, that is pretty weak. You're post is laughable, as are you.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

its such a shame layne took the path he took. his work with alice in chains and mad season was simply sensational. He was up there with Eddie and Kurt as the most talented singer of the 90's, with such a unique voice and great grasp on putting melodies to lyrics.

imagine if he was still around what kind of stuff Mad Season (if Saunders was also still around) would make, and also Alice in Chains (if he was still in the band). Imgaine if him Eddie and Chris Cornell got together and made a song together.

RIP to a truly talented legend

it's funny i saw this thread today as I was listening to some AIC yesterday and thought to myself what a shame Layne died because this band could have written some awesome music as they matured like PJ. Would have been great to see how they progressed. I think they would gotten better and better as they got older. The Unplugged is amazing because it really shows off Layne's incredible voice.

I read on Wikipedia that at the time of his death, Layne weighed 86 lbs. He was 6'1". So, so so so sad.
    OMG. thats intense.
what drugs was he into? sounds like speed was one of them.

I believe the actual killer was a speedball.

    Cocaine. Heroin. Death.

Their unplugged is one of the greatest live recordings ever, IMO. The video is fantastic as well, although for having such a great voice that night. Layne didn't look too well

That recording is one of my favorites to listen to and I can't stand to watch it. Layne looked horrible and he still sounded amazing. Too sad to watch
