Sharing Tickets with strangers - mutual assurance
I figured this could be something many of us could benefit from.
I think it's great that we buy pairs from tenclub. Either you share it with someone you know, or you can share with a fellow fan who is not in 10c or was shut out of the sale.
I was pretty horrified reading a thread chastising intertemporal trades "my msg 1 for your msg 2" because there is no assurance the person giving msg 2 will keep up with their end of the deal. That sounds ridiculous to me.
However, I have been screwed with these kind of deals before. I ended up selling my Wembley extra to a scalper for half the price one hour before the door opened because the guy who had committed to taking the ticket, after letting his answering machine pickup for four times (I was paying 99cents a minute since I am from the States and this was England), finally said: "oh, sorry, the friend this ticket was for could not make it". By then, the other four people whose numbers I had were not reachable anymore.
Anyway, what to do to assure that these transactions are successful?
How to make sure the buyer will pay up and won't leave the seller high and dry?
How to make sure the seller will not promise the ticket to multiple people? That he or she will show up? That he or she won't scalp the ticket or give it to their best friend once they realized they won the lottery and will be sitting in first row?

We'd need some sort of 10c Stubhub ... it's obvious the board is not "formal" enough to keep people binded to their word.
If I were of an entrepreneurial nature, I'd see what kind of market alll bands' fans clubs had for this, imagine you being a company that ran a stubhub like business for fan club only tickets? Might be a good gig.

This is something that has been on my mind also. I would like to think for the most part people here are honest.0

What makes it difficult with PJ is that the person who ordered the tickets has to show up at the venue the day of the show to pick them up. There's no way to get them early.
So you're still relying on people to be where they say they're going to be at the agreed upon time.everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do0 -

My suggestion is make a ca$h assurance agreement between the two parties.
Should definitely be a face-to-face transaction.PJ- 04/29/2003.06/24,25,27,28,30/2008.10/27,28,30,31/2009

How would it work though? The buyer is obviously in a disadvantaged bargain position... what if they send some good faith money and then maybe even pay the ticket in advance but then the deal falls through? It's not even just the monetary question, it's the fact that you still don't have a ticket. And possibly not a ticket at all, since you would have left the general sale go by.... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0 -

that's my point, it would have to be sponsored by 10c which, would enable quick transfers like this.
But then, you get the issue of people with low numbers getting tickets for friends in other cities and tranferring tickets.
My guess, 10c gets their money and not allowing transfers eliminates a good amount of the funny stuff form their side of it. So, it's probably the best solution ... for them, and the majority of the fan club."You're one of the few Red Sox fans I don't mind." - Newch91

These sort of deals are all about trust. Certainly you can get ripped off and certainly no one wants to, but that's sort of what you risk in doing this. I am currently hoping to work one out to get to both MSG shows.
The only thing I can think of is going though something like PayPal, but I'm not sure there's a way to guard against someone not coming through. Everyone uses that for sporting events and I've gotten both of the games I wanted for Yankee stadium (to see my beloved Detroit Tigers).
It's really a shame when trust is so difficult to believe in. I say that as someone who has those difficulties too...Go Get 'Em Tigers!0 -

This is weird meme. I'm sure I met you at Wembley. I remember speaking to someone with this same story. So... either incredible coincidence or... I've met you! Wow... small world.
I say.. people have been screwed but a lot more have gained so much from these exchanges/deals. Not only in tickets but some in new, lasting friendships!0 -

A show trading bargain would be a bit easier. Person with MSG1 tix sells his/her tix to person with MSG2(who wanted night 1 instead of night 2). Next day, MSG1 person(who wants to see night 2) uses the same $ to pay for MSG2 person's tix. MSG1 sees night 2, MSG2 sees night 1. BUT it all depends on both parties trust, i guess.PJ- 04/29/2003.06/24,25,27,28,30/2008.10/27,28,30,31/2009

Wow, really? Was this in line? I don't think it was you though. I am sure I would have been dazzled
Anyway, I know what you are saying. The thing is... we get into this transaction already for a somewhat irrational reason: 10c tickets instead of regular tickets, so the risk is really big. Can you imagine being shut out completely? Again, that's really my main concern. Muuuuch more than the money... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0 -

The best thing would be to get their information before hand. Other than that it's all about trust and individuals coming though.
I've only been on the giving end and I've come through, so I'm hoping for some receiving for MSG shows. ')Go Get 'Em Tigers!0 -

I have split tix 4 times all on the last tour 2 times they were mine and 2 the others tix. I was fortunate every time. Too bad there are asses out there who would screw someone over. :(0

Well, that's very good to hear. And I love your signature, so appropriate in a thread like this
Also, since the guy who screw me over was from London, this could be one more proof that Brits, beside stealing all "our" seat in New York are just plain evil.
Love ya redrock... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0 -

It wasn't in the line.. it was by the ticket booth (or somewhere around there).
Then you missed out! We'll have to remedy in June!... and the will to show I will always be better than before.0 -
Trust is key. I've done an exchange in the past, and I bought 2 extras in 06. None were problems.I won't change direction, and I won't change my mind - E.V.

buying before hand isn't totally risky. with paypal the buyer has insurance if the seller doesn't deliver and the seller gets paid right away and doesnt have to be worried about being screwed. it's win-win'06- Irving Plaza (What a way to see my first PJ concert), Albany, Hartford, Camden I & II, East Rutherford I & II, Pittsburgh

I never sold a ticket I can't get them, however I have gotten 2 so far from the pit. The first was in 2003 for Boston and the second one was the CT show this year. Both times everything went great. But this time around with the solo things are different. Last week I had 2 offers and now I have none. But the offer for the NYC1 show was making me wonder They PM me saying I can have it. Then PM me saying it was taken then after I post a thread about it they PM me again saying fine you can have it. Then the this shitty attitude
(You would need to bring state issued id since it would be necessary to meet at a bank to have a notarized receipt made. This would provide proof of the exchange and protect against unfounded charges of failure to complete a deal. There will be no mailing of a check, or dealing with Paypal. I won't be standing on line at the post office to send the ticket, and thus there will be no possibility of a claim that it was not received.)
I am like to hell with this. I don't beg for anything and I damn sure am not jumping through hoops. I love the hell out of ED his talent amazes me but come on. So this is my first time dealing with this. And in reading your post I can understand this PM a little better. You don't know who you are dealing with. Its hard. If I had gotten tickets I would have posted on the board as well offering the second one. I always go solo. Met at the venue and moved on. I guess times have changedCookies
