I have wondered about this for awhile. It seems almost everything 10 club has released in the past few years has been limited edition. I mean they don't want people trying to make a profit off stuff yet they keep doing it. I can almost see why posters are limited because they are somewhat difficult to print, but when we have things like limited edition towels and stickers and golf shirts and records what is the point. It would seem like with those things if there is a known demand for them it would be easy to produce more. I am also wondering if they keep production low to keep the buzz up about the band and 10 club. If there were 10,000 copies of Into the Wild available pretty much 3/4 of the posts for the last few days wouldn't exist and there would probably be no ebay auctions.

Im sure you are right on all accounts.... its so silly though. I mean, if they were smart, they would have the stuff stocked up 24/7 ... thus elliminating the triple the price ebay stuff, no one would give a shit.... they would be making more money ect ect. Hey i bet you could finance a whole southern tour on some fucking pearl jam towels. Just sucks for the people who are just fans, and would like to enjoy these products at a resonable price

    Kel Varnsen & LeatherMandi,

I think you both are severely misguided in your judgments against the 10C.
You are giving them way too much credit - as though they have any control over this ITW LP. They don't. They didn't make these decisions. They are merely just passing these onto fans - the best they can. There is not an unlimited supply of them.

I was just commenting on a trend I have been noticing lately with the 10 club. Maybe they don't have control over the supply, but what about the other items I mentioned that were limited edition. Surely they have control over how many PJ surfboard stickers or Beach Towels were made, so what was the point of making those limited edition?

Besides even if someone else was making them 10 was likely the company that ordered the most (I can't see any record store having more than a few) so it would make sense to me that they had some input on how many were made.

Yeah, I got no answer for that. Except for that maybe they just ordered a certain lot of them - and just haven't re-ordered - or maybe the deal they got to make whatever for them was a one time only deal. Who knows, ya know? Good question though.

Again, I don't think it was the 10C ordering them - but rather them being given a certain amount to sell through the fan club.

Well as far as the towels go... my understanding is the following. (Some guy from the board, his mom works for the company the towels were made by, and there was certain amount made)
Those were not made to be sold online, they were made as merch for the Australian shows and the leftovers were sold at the Hawaii show and online, so whatever inventory they had was what they sold and that's why not everyone got one (me included)... it wouldn't make any sense to have more done just to have an online sell when they were not intended for that in the first place....

doubt it, you could order as many as you like from the aural website. the person probably ordered 10 copies.
Of course, those orders haven't been shipped yet. It will be interesting to see what happens if they decide to cancel orders of people who ordered more than a couple. Can they do that? I don't see why not. Why could anyone need more than 2?

That's interesting, although it is not like the towels even say "Aussie Tour" or anything like that on them. I remember how fast they sold out so there is obviously a market for them. I don't think there would be anything stopping 10 club from contacting that company and asking to have more produced. I mean at the end of the day, even though 10 club does many awesome things, they are a business. So why not give customers something they want.

    Look,

I like ten c enough to give a shit to point out certain things. Does that make me an asshole? Im not saying these things as facts, im merely pointing out the fact that it would make sense.... But what i dont buy, is that ten c doesn't have control, if they are distributing pearl jam items, they have control over it ;)

For instance, the beach towels. So somebody did them a favor, made them some, limited supply, and what have you. If you see the fans , saying hey wow, i would really like to purchase these from your business. Being a manager of a business, my first reaction would be... "Well, lets get a hold of a towel printing company, and see what we can't do"

How many more do you want them to make? I'm sure to make it cost effective they'd have to do a certain minimum number and then they'd be stuck with most of them, because no one would want them now that they weren't limited.

Don't you think the only reason they sold out so quick is because there were so few of them left over after the tour? And the only reason a lot of people want them now is because they are so "rare". I have two of them, I bought them both on the Aussie tour and I can tell you they're not even that great of a towel.

There's stuff that got sold on the tours of the US and Europe that never made it to the Australian tour and never made it up on the website and no one's clamouring about wanting them.

OK, if they made some more towel (a lot more) and sold them on the website for whatever they sold for last time ($50? I don't know, never saw them on there) probably they would sell, everything sells but wouldn't you rather they came up with something new? There's a bunch of stuff from previous tours etc that I'd like to see make a comeback but that's the whole idea, it's a memento of the moment, isn't it?

They weren't 50 bucks i don't think but Im just saying.... I don't want one because they are rare, i want one that i can have when i go to the beach :D I cant think of a better beach towel then one with my boys name on it. Yes i feel like a complete loser for giving a shit about a towel too. Im getting better. I didnt buy one of those poster books, that i really would like to own because they were too expensive. Im working to save up for college and i just cant swing that. Even if i could i dont think i would. the more and more stuff becomes "rare" and "special edition" the more i dont really ive a shit about any of it.I'm just saying it would be nice to be heard. At the end of the day i'm a customer. I mean whats the big deal about moving on to the next thing? Theres plenty of stuff such as the pearl jam socks... that stay stocked up alot of the times in the goods section. I can't see people buying pearl jam socks more than they would a beach towel. Just doesn't make sense to me ;p

Point being... if theres a demand.... i don't know why they WOULDN'T just order some more. Hell, order three different types! Unless Kel Varsen's theory is correct , there is really no other excuse for it.

This really isnt about a beach towel.

but what about the beer koozies?

seriously, I like the stuff kept limited
I enjoying knowing that Ive got something that was limited, if everyone had one, I would not enjoy having it as much

and by the way, was there any indication that the limited editions will be sold in stores? If not thats what the craziness is about, if the Ltd eds are totally sold out, than the price will easily reach $100 because of that 7"

I'm not trying to stoke the flames, but I realise this isn't about a beach towel. On one hand you may say it's about good business, but really it's about not getting what you want.

I don't know why they don't make more towels, like I said, probably low demand really. Life's not fair, and you can't always get what you want.

If you really want a towel, why don't you get one made yourself? In fact, get a bunch made and sell them on ebay! :D

To me it is not even about not getting something (and I am aware that life is unfair) to me it is more about 10club giving mixed messages and not filling a demand when there is one. I mean on one hand 10 club takes a very hard line on people selling things like records and tickets and posters for an inflated price, but on the other hand they choose to make so many items rare and that is what drives up the price to begin with.

Plus if there is stuff that is going for much higher prices on ebay, like the towels, to me that indicates there is a demand. If people want them why not kill two birds with one stone, by giving the fans what they want and at the same time getting rid of the ebay market, since 10club seems to be against it to begin with.
