    Congrats.
I bid before you and saw your high bid did not meet the reserve. Did they drop the reserve at the last minute or did you bid enough to meet the reserve?

    Congrats again.

Just got an email saying I had won it. Guess they did drop the reserve.

Looks like it all depends on if the IRS wants to be a-holes about it. One could make a very solid argument that the fair market value of that item was exactly what was paid for it. Good luck :D

2nd that. The greatest part is that you just donated 1500 bucks to help animals in boston. that's a lot cooler than a signed jersey (but the jersey is still really awesome)

Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.

You can probably deduct most of it. I would talk to your tax professional and take whatever advice they provide!

Also, you could ask the auctioning entity to give you with a fair market value of the item, which could help.

There is a board member here name Music for Rhinos....He may be of some help. He had a tax issue of his own recently, and there was some talk on the board of it. Maybe he can help? Early 20's...Smart, down to earth kid from what I gather...;)

Enjoy your Jersey!! Red Sox or not! :)

Umm, I think his take was anonymously contacting the IRS to rat out his former employer at a car wash that was paying his help under the table. Little different situation, but I guess he might have a phone number for you
