Any fans here?
Up there in my favourite bands list, however I don't like their change of image from the American Idiot album, old Green Day rocks!
Thought I'd share that, listening to them atm, it's been a while.
Brat is a brilliant song, yeaaah. 8-)

  • I really love their old stuff, they started going downhill after Nimrod and now I really cant stick their newer stuff.
    Astoria 20/04/06, Leeds 25/08/06, Prague 22/09/06, Wembley 18/06/07,
    Dusseldorf 21/06/07, Manchester 17/08/09, London 18/08/09, LA 06/10/09, LA 07/10/09.

Ain't gonna be any middle anymore.
  • could be one of the more bizaare comebacks in music history. that and the supernatural santana record.

They essentially came back from the dead, they had that song Moral Majority from 2000 or whatever that was a single and seemed to be doing well, bt essentially they seemed to be a band that was forgotten, the whole pop punk thing was dying out, blink was making its last record, and yes Good Riddance was gonna be played at every graduation ceremony, but they were non existant basically.

then, they came out of nowhere with of all things a rock opera album. With longish songs, and songs that were not necessarily the punk like music of their old days.

and of course they moved on to more adult subject matter.

I am psyched to hear what the new record sounds like.

I actually like American Idiot. Its one of those complete albums that you can listen to from start to finish. I have never seen them live, but I hear they are fantastic. I guess its not abnormal for them to bring people from the audience to play, who in turn are given instruments for their participation. Very cool. Looking forward to seeing what they do next.

i love these guys to death. one of the very bands where i like all there cd's. i loved american idiot it just summed up with it was like to grow up in war and find yourself in this day in age. i love how they got away from the dookie days and grew as a band and continue to do so.

Used to listen to Dookie about a million times a day on cassette- partly because its very short but overall its a great album, i think each song is pretty good if not really good.

Nimrod is okay too, i love Scattered - think thats the best Greenday song.

All i really listened to as i found Pearl jam etc
  • Dookie, Nimrod, and American Idiot are all awesome in my book.
  • Liquid Dookie!!! Love me some F.O.D. and Sassafras Roots! Green Day is cool in my book, not the biggest fan of American Idiot, but there's good stuff there. Warning: is criminally underrated.

Gotta love Green Day. They were the first band that I really got into back when I was 13-14. I was surprised with the direction they went with "American Idiot", but I thought it was great. That's definitely one of those albums you can listen to front to back with no problem.

Their live show are amazing too. So much energy and Billie Joe really knows how to work the crowd. It's always awesome when theybring up 3 people from the crowd to play "Knowledge" by Op Ivy. Always a good time. It's too bad I won't be able to see them in any small places like they were playing before they got huge again with American Idiot.

    I'll second that!

Don't get me wrong, American Idiot is a great album, love the songs on it.
I just don't like this new image they have, black with red ties, mascara, and all of a sudden they've gone political....dunno.... I prefer them how they were.

BTW...She from Dookie is such a brilliant song, one I can play loud over and over.

I'll third that. A terribly underrated album.

I agree on Warning. That album in truly great. I really like American Idiot as well.

Their old stuff is good, but I like those 2 albums best.

  • My daughter's first love band and, by osmosis, one of mine. I can't wait for them to release a new album and tour again. Also, looking forward to the surprise: http://www.greenday.com/site/news_black.php

I took a lot of flack on Synergy for arguing that American Idiot is one of the best albums of the decade. It's brilliant. I wish they hadn't beat it to death, but it is still a masterpiece.
It makes much more sense to live in the present tense.
  • I saw them when Dookie first came out at a club and thought they were awesome live (still one of the most memorable shows I have seen with them cutting to "eye of the tiger" and such). I remember nobody really recognizing that they were driving around the parking lot before the show. I enjoy their stuff and Dookie takes me back.....took my son to see them a couple years ago on the A.I. tour and although they were more scripted, it was still a great show. I have all of their cd's as well
