Picked up a CD of "Insomnia" today. The last time I listed to "Insomnia" was when I had a cassette of the record and that was yeeeears ago.

    What a record!

I've heard a read a lot of flack about Green Day, things like:

    -posers
    -wanna be punk rip offs
    -phoney British accent
    -mass appeal
    -kiddy punk
    -etc, etc.

Oh yeah? Maybe, maybe not. Well to bad because I don't give a shit, I fucking love Green Day's stuff. Say what they will, I'll always be a fan. :-D

I took my 15 year old for his birthday. I saw them 2 years ago and thought the were great. Last night really proved to me that they should be in the Rock and roll Hall and fame. This Billie Joe is a hell of front man. We started out about 3 rows deep and I will admit, it was rough (I'm 53). I don't do the mosh thing but for my boy, I did it. I had fun. There were a lot a douchebags there. As for their female fans...ugggggg. I kid you not that I find them to be some of the most unattractive ladies I have ever seen. Nice, but not to look at.

American Idiot came out when I was in 7th grade, and starting to seriously get into music, and exploring more than the just classic rock my dad had shown me. I hold that album really dear to me and played that CD out. Around that time, 7th grade or so, my cousin gave me Dookie, which I of course knew some songs from, but that just cemented the love. I'll always have a soft spot for Green Day. Great band. Still haven't seen them live after all these years, and hoping I get to do so sometime soon.

Whether the band can be classified as punk or whatever doesn't really matter. The former 3 piece band makes some great music and are amazing in concert.

In the beginning I fell for them when my students were listening (Dookie) to them daily. Then I followed digging what music 3 men could make. Like PJ they have albums I like more than others and just a few I don't.

Dookie is a great album. Listened to it just the other day (after not hearing it for at least a decade)

That new RS interview is worth reading. Love how they said that they just want to be Green Day again with no concept gimmicks.

For those of you holding tickets for this week's shows (like me for Detroit), they have now been cancelled due to illness:

Heard the new Green Day Rev Radio leak. Converted it to FLAC to listen to it and I have to say this is their 1st good album since American Idiot. Since AI they sound like they're going through the motions but this one is so awesome.

Looking forward to the Raleigh show. Never seen them live so thought I would knock it out! Reminds me of learning power chords during my beginner guitar days.

Won pit tickets through our local radio station for the Denver show on August 9th. Took my 14 year old son to his first concert, which happens to be his favorite band. We had a blast!
Got me started listening to them again, which I hadn't done in a while. Man, I really forgot just how good Dookie is. Start to finish. Not a bad song on it. I'd definitely rank it in the top 10 albums of the 90s.

i think Green day is one of those bands that young and old would enjoy seeing.  I saw them during the American Idiot tour and enjoyed them a lot.  They played near me a few weeks ago didn't go but knew some people that went.  The one kid (with the lisp) was at the show.
