Nah I doubt it's a sound check, it's probably his original studio recording... someone else on YouTube managed to get a hold of it too and added his own instruments to Alive (search "Alive remastered"). My question is, where can I get it? lol
I may be totally off here, but could it have something to do with Rockband? I know they have different tracks for each instrument. (If u dont play guitar correctly, the guitar won't sound). Just a guess. :?

a lot of acapella's are coming from rockband, and im alsmost positive this is one of them, im sure there will be a lot more when ten is release.

in acapella world theres a dry acpaella and a wet acapella, this would be considered a wet acapella with the efx to it.
