My computer crashed a few weeks ago and in fixing it, my harddrive got wiped...now i still have them on my iPod luckily but there is no way i can get my non-iTunes purchased music off my iPod and onto my comp (all my PJ stuff was from already owned albums) now i lost all my albums because i lent them to a friend who i was trying to get into Pearl Jam...he claims he lost them...some friend huh? so since i have no way of getting all of that on my computer i am forced to deal without, or ask any of you for for the entire studio anthology. i am willing to make trades but i have nothing to really offer...i'm a freshman 10c member so offering my tickets at a show when most of you will get better seats wont really do...really all PJ memorabilia i have are shirts and some posters (which i am using in my renovation of my music space room so no sale)...is there anyone who is willing to help? i mean i understand if you can't but even small contributions are greatly appreciated.

P.S. my home as place to crash when coming to see a NYC/Long Island show is also out of the question (sorry :() although i am perfectly ok with it, i am only 18 and still live primarily with my mom and siblings so they wouldn't be up to a complete stranger crashing at my house, let alone how awkward it is.

You can buy software that will expunge the stuff off your ipod onto your computer; I have a mac and have software on it

I've used a program called Anapod to get songs OFF my ipod. Look into that. It was only about $15. Worked a few years ago and you can simply download it. It treats your ipod like a hard drive and just lets you copy contents to your computer. Good luck!
ADD 5,200 to the post count you see, thank you. :)

Similar thing happened to me several years ago. Used PodUtil and it worked quite well. I believe it was free at the time. As I recall, it took about 15 minutes for every gigabyte of music.

    1. I think you can copy the songs off your ipod by using it as a hard drive, but they will be mixed up in folders. There are mp3 tag-reading programs that will read the mp3 tags (artist, song title, etc.) and rename the files however you want, and then you can have itunes scan the folders and reorganize them how it does.

    2. 15 minutes per GB sounds like USB 1. You want to connect through USB 2.

If you don't have any USB 2 connections on your motherboard, for about $10 you can buy a USB 2 card that fits in a PCI slot, it's well worth it.

    3. If this is a scam, you could just get the Pearl Jam catalog via bittorrent or wherever the kids pirate music these days. Just in case. :-)

Dude... the same thing happened to me not that long ago. I used something called 'CopyTrans'. It was pretty cheap considering the aternative. It saved the iTunes Library from my iPod back to the new computer.
BE SURE TO NOT SYNC the new library on your new computer to the ipod, otherwise, you blow away everything on the iPod.
Search for 'Copy Trans iPod'. It saved my sorry ass.
