I love Stern - however, can't get Sirius at my job, so I listen to O&A now (on K-rock until 9AM). I hated them at first, but now find them pretty entertaining.

    Jim Norton is hysterical!

    You don't like Jim Norton

I kind of think of O&A as Seinfeld. Opie is Jerry, the least interesting character on the show, yet the show wouldn't exist without him. Weird.

I'm a giant O&A fan, but I think that is a fair analogy.

Hey man, didn't mean no respect with my post. I've never actually listened to Stern, just used his name cause it was part of the thread. Jimmy uses that line on a lot things.

It will be good once this merger goes through, so there will be some crossover between the shows. I think the "conflict" between the shows is blown way out of proportion.

I'm a huge fan too. I'm not saying I don't NOT like him, it's just his role, almost like the Executive Producer who is on air.

But the characters on that show are incredibly funny; Ant, Jimmy, Patrice (my personal favourite), Bob Kelly, Jay Mohr when he calls in, Colin Quinn, even Vos, the list just goes on and on. I hope they get Artie on when the merger goes through too.

Between the 2 shows yes. Between Howard and Opie no.

  • O & A are awesome. Norton and PJ at the same festival must've been a treat, but there was no way I could've made the trip. I'm not a fancy man right now and the gas for the trip alone would've given me a stroke.

I've fallen so far behind in my O & A recordings on my inno that I probably won't hear today's conversation until the weekend but I know that Opie always gives PJ some love and they've used "Life Wasted" as music coming back from break a lot. They've used "Once" every now and then, too. I can't believe Op has never seen PJ live before, though. He'd be wise to pull whatever strings he can and call in any owed favors to get tickets to one of the MSG shows.

Oh ya? I just started listening to O&A about six months ago. Do they actually have some personal beef between them?

Dopey and Dummy are Howard Stern clones, pure and simple. The day I heard Anthony use terms like "yenta" and "house frau" was the day I turned off completely. Sure, Stern has reached his twilight and isn't the same, but if I wanted to hear a Howard-influenced rip-off show, I'd listen to Bubba (who sucks too, by the way). All these guys--Mark Madden, Crazy Cabbie, Bubba, O/A try to do "outrageous" radio and it's too contrived for my tastes. I agree that Howard not showing up on Fridays anymore is lame and not fair, quite frankly since his original spiel was that Robin went long with the news everyday and they needed a day off. Having said that, the chemistry on the Stern show is the best today and nothing can compare with it. It would be like saying "Mr. Kennedy" is a better wrestling performer than "Shawn Michaels." Sure, Michaels is older, but he's the best going today.

i listen to them every morning on my way to work, but missed the PJ bit.

i've come to realize that opie is AWFUL! anthony and jimmy run that show. opie chimmes in on the conversation at the worst time and he isn't even funny.

either way that would be a fun bunch to run into next week at MSG.

O&A owe Stern one thing: thanks for making "shock jocks" acceptable and mainstream....but they are ANYTHING but Stern clones.

You turned them off when he said yenta? So you dont listen and are basing this hate on Opie and anthony is based on nothing, since like you said, you dont listen.

Clones? Why because they speak into microphones? Name one thing they do that Stern does?
