Sony Nw A3000 Walkman And Sonicstage Questions

Im getting an A3000 for my birthday in a few weeks and after doing some homework on it Ive downloaded Sonicstage 4 cp coz of the horror stories I heard about Connect PLayer.
I spent about 10 hours at the weekend ripping all of the cds I wanted on it to save time when I actually get it, I did this by using Windows Media then importing them into Sonicstage. I know I could have used Sonicstage but I like WM.
My main question is how do I convert the MP3s into Atrac3 ? I looked on the Sony website and couldnt find concrete info on it.
Will they be converted when I transfer them into the player from Sonicstage or do I have to do it prior to transfer?
Converting them to Atrac3 will allow me to have more music in the player wont it?
