My Packard-Hell surprises me!

I am (...) surprised by my Packard-Hell PC. It's suddenly ask me to start up in safe mode..... I have no (...) clue why...............

Once it suddenly shut down and restarted. I scanned on spyware/mallware and stuff. Also scanned on virus with Symantec Anti Virus and AGV.... And: I have no (...) clue why...............

Any ideas?

    Does it do this often?
might just be windows, so a reformat might help (usually does)
might be your RAM or RAM-bus too
    could be lots of things

does it ever beep while booting? (not just once, but multiple times or nonstop)

    can we speak in dutch?
    Reformatting: opnieuw windows installeren?
Hoe zit het dan met een serial? Ik heb alleen via een kennis een orginele windows xp cd-rom gekregen.

Hij piept nooit tijdens het starten.

Hmmm, mja, een serial kan je wel vinden...
toch best eens RAM-test runnen.

most packard bell pc have a hidden partition with windows XP, when you boot up, hold f10 and try and reinstall

    aha, thanks!

    I also found this:

    System file checker
With the programm to check systemfiles. Withe the Windows XP install cd-rom you can check on damaged systemfiles and those will be replaced by correct ones from the Windows XP install cd-rom. In screen 'run' type sfc /scannow to start the process.

Is this also a possible solution?

It might work, but you can't know untill you try

Let us know what you've tried and in which order and hopefully we can get a little wiser from that

might do the trick, but on some packard bell pcs some of the drivers etc are only on the packard bell install cd or partition, so you might have a problem with your drives etc if it isnt a packard bell cd

it is a bit of a shitter, let us know how you get on

I did a memtest this morning. When I tried to test 512 mb after 20 minutes the programm had tested 0.0%. If I tried to stop the process, the programm didn't respond anymore on my actions which made me stop the programm by using taskmanager.

When I tested 'All unused RAM' it went up to 539,4% after 25 minutes
    no errors where found.

    Any ideas?

I used System Spec for info about my RAM. It says I have 512 MB physical and 256 flash rom, as a total of 768MB of memory. Besides that there is 2 GB virtual memory.

I have tested my mem with HeavyLoad (http://www.jam-software.com) and this is the screenshot: http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l229/disconnected2006/HeavyLoad.jpg

As you can see there is 696MB allocated. The testing starts around 970 MB and the number goes down as an idiot. During the testing after a while it looks like he can't test lower then 100MB. It stays on 100MB. Is this maybe a sign I have a RAM memory problem?

Still no restarts yet, even not after some stress tests..... I did found warnings about too many incoming and outgoing connections.... Maybe that can be the problem? Now I put a limit on incoming/outgoing connections and I will check if the warnings are still coming....
