So I have an external hard drive and would like to use it for ripping and burning dvds but it takes SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much longer to rip and burn too and from then my reg c drive. Is there anything I can do?

Rip to your internal drive, move to external. If your ext drive is USB, you might want to try firewire if you have a firewire port.0

well...there are several connections you can have with an external drive:
USB 1.1 (slow)
Firewire (fast)
USB2 (fast)

actually, they phased out framazammers when the microframazammers were developed some time ago. framazammers are really hard to come by now...and even if you could find one...you might as well spend the extra dough to get the latest and greatest...yes, a microframazammer.
