I think we can agree on this: So far, it's way too early to see how the teams will fare post-trade. In all likelihood, both teams benefitted (not sure about the Pirates, but fuck them). Anyway, we'll see in October.

Now that the Dodger offense is there, their pitching has been a little rocky. They need to get both elements going at the same time, and it will be awesome.

I doubt anything ever comes of this, but it is interesting that Selig is investigating this:

Scott Boras is one of the worst things about baseball, in my opinion. But this is nothing earth shattering. Shit like this happens when stars want to leave where they are.

Isn't it about time the employee fought back though? I mean if you were to move Manny's situation to your life what would you do. Say you've worked your ass off for the last 8 years for a boss who kinda liked you even though you did your job at a level that very few have before. Then right before your contract with that employer is up your boss says we'll look into redoing your contract, and you work your butt off being better than you have been at your job over the last few years. Finally you find out that not only is your boss not intending to look into your contract, but also that the boss is using the press to make you seem like an asshole. What do you do?

You throw down a 64 year old employee, fake injuries, and piss off your teammates by going on a personal strike.

And Manny signed a ten year deal. This was year 8. If he didn't like the contract, he never should have signed the 10 year 200 million dollar deal. He knew the Sox controlled the last two years of his contract. And if the Sox had exercised their options, Boras would not see dime one of the 40 million dollars that was still part of his contract. His old agent Jeff Moorad would get the commission.

The guy was miserable in Boston. He's said in interviews, without getting into details, that he wasn't able to relax. It happens in other places too. I think he needed to get out of there. It's just like what JD Drew (also a Boras guy) did to the Dodgers a couple years back.

Then why after the trade was finalized did he call the Red Sox telling them he didn't want to be traded and would basically "be good" the rest of the year? And the Red Sox weren't buying it and said see ya.

I didn't hear that. I've seen him say to a lot of the media here in LA that he was unhappy in Boston in general, that management sabotaged some things with him and others in the past, and that he can finally breathe again.

He sabotaged himself with all his antics whether it was lack of hustle, not taking the shoulder off his bat against Mariano Rivera in a pinch hitting appearance, shoving a team employee.

If that's how he expresses unhappiness, he might have some problems.

The Red Sox had to trade him but it has to piss you off with how well he's playing. With this Manny playing you had a great shot for another title.

Now we will see how Bay responds to important September series and Postseason games, something he never sniffed as a Pirate.

as long as he keeps producing and gets me into my fantasy playoffs, I could really care less where he is. On the other hand, I'm actually glad he's with the Dodgers now, cause now we wont have to face him anymore.

Well, what's he going to say? lol

Enjoy him for two months. He'll be back in Washington Heights next year as the Yanks new DH as soon as they show Giambi the door.

You might be right. That would be interesting.

I keep hoping the Yankees pick up Bonds. Talk about a team you'd love to hate.

The Yanks got 88 million in payroll coming off the books this year. They got to spend their money on someone. And the fact they are entering a new stadium means they're not going to dramatically slash payroll.

Sounds like a typical Boras negotiation. Recall the A-Rod debacle last year. What a creep.

Anyway, Manny himself says he is happy to be gone.

Bore-Ass had a lot to do with it. Why would he represent someone he wasn't going to get paid on?

What pisses me off about Manny is that he didn't want to honor his deal that he signed. At worst he would have made $20 million next year. It was the Red Sox right to wait on the option and it pissed him off so he was going to quit. He had no intention on playing in the Yankees series the weekend before he was traded. He was faking a knee injury so the Sox made him take an MRI and it came back clean so he had to play.

It's alright, some moron of an owner will sign him to another 4 year deal and then he'll pull the same shit he's always pulled. He'll act like a child when he doesn't get his way and he'll quit.

He's killing it now because he's happy which is just proof he was dogging it in Boston.
I'll ride the wave where it takes me.
