and the red sox are 5-1 since he's gone. he wouldnt of played hard for us and goin into the last 2 months we couldnt risk it. and no, he will not win the NL mvp. it doesn't piss us off, bay is better defensively, faster, and is producing.

Yeah, well Bay has been going off since the trade as well. I hate the Sox, but it was a good move for them.

  • So it doesn't piss you guys off that he always has this type of impact in him and he chose to display it elsewhere???

Say what you want about Bay but I don't see him taking someone like KRod deep in the Bottom of the Ninth of a Playoff game either.

Yeah, he is intimidating as hell up there. Pitchers want no part of him, but when they do give him something to hit, he is smacking it all over the field.

My friend is a Sox fan. It's pretty funny, how they have to hate everyone who leaves Boston. He's on the Jason Bay bandwagon now of course.

couldnt agree more. its like red sox fans are actually fans of the management. whoever they tell them to like/dislike they will.

have you guys seen manny's number against yankees pitchers. just a yankee killer. my brother a huge yankee fan basically sent me a jubilation email when he heard the news, but you couldnt get a sox fan to admit they would rather have manny then bay right now for a million bucks...

Yeah. Bay's first series against the Yankees will be interesting. My Yankees fan friends were very relieved to see Manny go to the NL.

for about 50 years all that mattered for the red sox was beating the yankees...now it doesnt seem to matter a bit...funny.
it has to concern you that your arch rivals are happy about a trade you made...right? dismanteling a playoff bound, defending world champ...

What kind of impact? That the Dodgers were a .500 ball club with him and now after his first week...still just a .500 ball club? He's a great player, but the Dodgers are still mediocre. He hasn't made any kind of impact to justify any kind of MVP award. They just lost 2 of 3 to the Cards, a team that's ahead of them in the wildcard. So it didn't help.

Not to mention...it's still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to early to start analyzing anything so I just wasted my time typing that.

You don't create an impact in baseball in a week. After a month leading towards the end of September, see where it all stands and then start talking.

I actually agree with this as it should make both the Dodgers and Sox better in the Regular season.

The Sox will miss Manny in the Post-Season.

Just to be an ass here's Manny's up to the minute stats with the Dodgers:

Hey lay off my A's. We are rebuilding, and made some great trades for our future.

I'm glad to see Manny gone to the NL too as he hit a CLUTCH homer off of Zito in 2003 in Game 5 of Round 1.

The guy hits Clutch Bombs and then stands there for 50 seconds. I swear he has no Idea what the score of the game is or that he's showing up people. He's there to only amuse Manny! I find it hilarious actually. :)

4 Bombs in 6 Games is an impact no matter how you want to spin it. Also they have as good of a chance as the Sox to make the playoffs as they are in the woeful NL west.

You can't say he hasn't impacted the Dodgers. The losses have had nothing whatsoever to do with Manny, but he has had an unbelievable impact in the wins. When they don't pitch around him he crushes the ball.

The Cardinals are a good team, and the Dodgers always suck in St. Louis.

As you say, it's too early to compare records after the trade, but the impact has been huge. There is no denying it.

If the Dodgers make the playoffs, it will be because of the trade. And if that happens, look out, because we all know what he does in the post-season.

An impact that brought them 3 wins in 6 games. He's doing great for himself yes, he always will...however the team...is exactly where they were before they got him after a week.

Manny has had some great post season moments, but his post season performance has been exaggerated over the years.

You do realize that Manny's career average is 44 points lower in the post season than the regular season and that his OPS is 100 points lower?

Manny has hit some big home runs in the post season, but in the most important post season series in Red Sox history, Manny had 0 rbis in 7 games against the Yanks in 04.

I think we can agree on this: So far, it's way too early to see how the teams will fare post-trade. In all likelihood, both teams benefitted (not sure about the Pirates, but fuck them). Anyway, we'll see in October.

Now that the Dodger offense is there, their pitching has been a little rocky. They need to get both elements going at the same time, and it will be awesome.

Scott Boras is one of the worst things about baseball, in my opinion. But this is nothing earth shattering. Shit like this happens when stars want to leave where they are.

Isn't it about time the employee fought back though? I mean if you were to move Manny's situation to your life what would you do. Say you've worked your ass off for the last 8 years for a boss who kinda liked you even though you did your job at a level that very few have before. Then right before your contract with that employer is up your boss says we'll look into redoing your contract, and you work your butt off being better than you have been at your job over the last few years. Finally you find out that not only is your boss not intending to look into your contract, but also that the boss is using the press to make you seem like an asshole. What do you do?

You throw down a 64 year old employee, fake injuries, and piss off your teammates by going on a personal strike.

And Manny signed a ten year deal. This was year 8. If he didn't like the contract, he never should have signed the 10 year 200 million dollar deal. He knew the Sox controlled the last two years of his contract. And if the Sox had exercised their options, Boras would not see dime one of the 40 million dollars that was still part of his contract. His old agent Jeff Moorad would get the commission.

The guy was miserable in Boston. He's said in interviews, without getting into details, that he wasn't able to relax. It happens in other places too. I think he needed to get out of there. It's just like what JD Drew (also a Boras guy) did to the Dodgers a couple years back.

Then why after the trade was finalized did he call the Red Sox telling them he didn't want to be traded and would basically "be good" the rest of the year? And the Red Sox weren't buying it and said see ya.

I didn't hear that. I've seen him say to a lot of the media here in LA that he was unhappy in Boston in general, that management sabotaged some things with him and others in the past, and that he can finally breathe again.

He sabotaged himself with all his antics whether it was lack of hustle, not taking the shoulder off his bat against Mariano Rivera in a pinch hitting appearance, shoving a team employee.

If that's how he expresses unhappiness, he might have some problems.
