I don't know much about Reiki, but my ex has gone for cranial sacral therapy, which is also an energy therapy. He used to get horrible migraines...tried everything - nothing worked. Finally he went for 3 sessions and they were really effective. I think he goes for some follow-up sessions every year or 2, but he swears by them.

yeah i heard of cranial sacral therapy but don't know much about it. But wow, that is something. From all I heard so far, it really seems like it works.

I think in some ways it's similar to Reiki - you're fully clothed and they apply light pressure to differnt points of the body...i think it's supposed to release blockages, etc. He gets his treatments from a physical therapist

I've had reiki done by a friend who is a reiki master. She practised on us a bit. I remember the first time I had it I just felt incredibly chilled out and relaxed and when we went out later I found I didn't have all the usual worries and insecurities in my brain that I usually have.

I would love to be a reiki master myself one day and study it. I didn't think you could learn it from a book though - I thought you needed a reiki master to "tune" you in or something at a class?

Oh yeah, you definitely need to go and learn from a reiki master. The book is just an overview and it has resources.

In the Netherlands it is quite popular, You can do self-healing as well.
I remember seeing in a book ways to put your hands on your face to relax and soothe yourself. Funny thing is I usually sit like that to feel relaxed.

I believe touch is a very powerful tool.

I went to psychical therapist who did kinetics (something like that). Also had to do with magnetism (...right word? When they use their hands for energy without touching you).
I had real problems with my knees, but no real help from the doctor other therapist. After the first session, I felt so happy and relaxed. It was indeed like all my worries meant nothing. I felt like I should feel. So free...wow!

But after a few days it wore off, and reality kicked in hard for me. I saw her for two years though and it really helped me relax and seeing things in a different perspective. Also my knee-problem...still sometimes it comes up, but she helped me reckognize why it comes up. And the moment I realize it and relax the muscles, it is gone.

I believe a lot diseases come from mental stress.

And lastly, I would like to do a course like that, but it is quite expensive.

Goodluck, and once you have it mastered send some reiki over this message pit for all of us to enjoy ;)
Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?

I live in São Paulo, Brazil. A lot of my friends has a session of Reiki, as common than acupunture. SP has a biggest japanese colony in the world.

I found a lot of links of associations, courses, for post to you. But nothing of them has translator service, sorry.
