my only thing about the shows was just the setlist. I would have liked Immortality, maybe Blood, or a lil more variety, but it is what it is..I got LROM, AATW, and Black Diamond for the 1st time and you can't beat that with a bat
and the energy and everything else def made up for that, so Im happy

The MSG mystique is more about what the show is than trying to compare it to another venue. MSG is in one of the biggest cities in the world and these shows generally attract some of the most rabid fans of the band from all around the world who come out to see it. To say the crowd is not any better than other city is not a novel statement as I've been to a few cities and the crowds are just as good however from my experiences I have the most fun with other fan clubbers in NY more than any other city. For example, before Weds show I met people from Ireland, England, Utah and Cincy and had a few beers and then in the show sat with people from Germany, Hawaii and Boston (coincidentally, no NYers in my immediate area) and had a blast with them all show singing and dancing........

for the record, best crowd I've ever experienced might be a Philly Spectrum show.......but NY is always my fav place to see them......

ran some errands. listened the Marshall Mathers LP while checking out the message board and probably going out later. I'm sort of unhappy to be back home in reality after my weeklong Pearl Jam fantasy camp.

MSG is not only a building,

    its an experience.

it is also a shrine for live rock and roll concerts.

    everyone wants to play there,

and everyone wants to attend there.

    irregardless of its geographic location,

it just happens to be in NYC .

    dont hate .

The comparing shows crap has gotten out of hand here. Either that or I'm getting too old to care anymore. Anyway, I'm one of those guys that likes the crowd singing along and MSG is king for that, no matter what band plays (at least in my experience, White Stripes, the Who, U2 etc...) But as far as PJ though, I'd see them play in a dumpster.

You could not be more correct. Comparing crowds is nonsense and the singing at MSG. We were amazed at how loud the people went along with EVERY song. Ok, maybe not Cropduster.

    Nope, even Cropduster.

It was the most amazing experience of my life. MSG singing along to something relatively obscure, like Hard to Imagine, is as loud as many places singing along to Jeremy.

Not only did the MSG crowds sing all the words ... we sang all the Ed grunts and groans. And here's the really amazing part -- we sang the "live" versions of songs, not the album versions.

    An example, on Alive:

We knew to sing "is something wrong she said ... OF COURSE THERE IS!" Instead of the more subdued album version.

We fucking ruled. The shows fucking rocked. And anybody who wants to say otherwise is a twit. ;)
everybody wants the most they can possibly get
for the least they could possibly do

  • This thread reeks of jealousy. It just shows you how great NY is. We have to endure full threads on why non-new yorkers think NY fans aren't that special. It's actually pretty funny.
