Never had the urge to beat a child until now....

Without knowing all the facts around this, my first reaction is that the parents are totally at fault here. I could see the kid perhaps getting out of site for a minute or two - but to go off alone for 30 minutes? I would have been frantically searching for my kid if he was out of my sight for more than a few seconds!
This is really sad, hopefully this kid will get some psychiatric help!Check out my Sudsy Chick Etsy Store for all natural homemade bath products!0 -

.
you have obviously never been to a alligator/reptile park
feeding a live chicken to the gators is the best part!
and those saltwater crocs are even more vicious!
how about feeding a live mouse to a pet python?
your little sister's goldfish to the family cat?
are those vile acts of cruelty that will result in a person becoming a serial killer?
the kid is 7-this is about the parents, how they are raising him and where the hell were they?0 -

obviously...animals eat other live animals, out in the wild...and sure, as pets. NOT the same thing. this child willfully threw different animals to this croc, and he ALSO bashed in the heads of a few lizards? do children usually do THAT?
btw - feeding the goldfish to your cat IS cruel. it's cruel towards the sister, and cruel towards the fish. most healthy individuals would not want to willingly harm a pet. now, a one-time incident may or may not lead to anything. this incident may or may not. however, it was willful, it was filled with intent and cruelty, particularly the bashing of heads...so to me a sign *something* is wrong. and if you want to argue against him ever being a serial killer, be my guest. i have not once insinuated it is indeed guaranteed....just simply that cruelty and abuse of small animals as a child has indeed been a proven correlating facor of serial killers. me, no matter what...i think it unhealthy behavior that i would want checked out. and child or adult, there should be consequences for such actions. harming animals 'just because you can'...should NOT be tolerated. if he abused a human in such a way it would be a whole other story....there most definitely should be consequences even if it's 'just' an animal.
and since my FIRST post in this thread, i have called out to the parents responsibility!Stay with me...

exactly, maybe the kid just was trying to be like the croc hunter guy? Kids do that, copy what they see. It should be about the parents more. How they didnt keep an eye on the child for starters.0 -

did the croc hunter guy ever bash in the heads of lizards just for the fuck of it?
believe me, i am well aware of copy-cat behavior in children and then some. i was an educator and am well schooled in child psych. imo, this is 'beyond' all that.
bottomline...absolutely it;s on the parents. none the less, the child absolutely should have a psych evaluation imo. better safe than sorry...and already it's a damn sorry state. some animal's lives cruelly ended, and from a species perspective, supposedly difficult or near irreplaceable...which is very sad for all. however, better to check out the child, the family situation, for the good of the child...and society.Stay with me...

Usually, no. We dont know the kid's background. Could be he lives on a ranch or someplace where killing animals is common and is indifferent to the treatment of animals. So many unknown variables.decides2dream wrote:obviously...animals eat other live animals, out in the wild...and sure, as pets. i will give you that there are many unknown variables, but even living on a ranch...i'm sorry...absolute indifference to life i find doubtful. you want to disagree with the severity of the behavior...a-ok of course! who am i to say? i am merely expressing my own opinion on it. bottomline, i think it's fucked...and an investigation into his psych...and into his parents and their parenting, is certainly warrented.
no one has ever killed one of my pets. thankfully.

How are you people even arguing about this?maybe he lived on a ranch? what the fuck ? who cares? what this kid did was wrong at any age. next some people are going to be saying, "oh he is just a kid, he doesn't know any better." maybe killing animals is commonplace where he comes from? yeah ok, bashing animals heads in is ok at any family ranch! woohoo!
if my kids grow up playing violent video games and watching violent tv, will it be "ok" if they go kill someone and now its excusable because we condone that kind of activity in my house?!!?? Give me a break.{if (work != 0) {
work = work + 1;
sleep = sleep - work * 10;}
else if (work >= 0) {
reality.equals(false);
work = work +1;
}system("pause");

jeeze I dunno, perhaps watching the ole man shoot, trap vermin or slaughtering pigs or chickens or or crocs or cows or lambs or sheep or ostrich might have an influence on how a person feels about animals in general, maybe even a 7 year old kid who is highly influenced by his father.
not saying its right. just saying the conclusions here about giving the kid a beating or feeding him to a croc are a bit extreme.
actually, if a person doesn't know the difference between what is right and what is what is wrong-and the commits a violent act, our society does excuse that behavior-its called not guilty by reason of insanity.
if you cant teach your kids the difference between what is a game or actors on TV, and they go out an kill someone, it just might be excused.
But of course, Im just playing devils advocate, which I love to do. I dont condone the kids actions, just saying, the kid could be mentally handicapped-YOU DONT KNOW.0 -

totally agree. the people who say 'lets beat the kid up' or suggest throwing him to the crocs are just as bad... i mean its a kid?! he might have grown up the son of a hunter or something.
ok so he threw some rare Guatemalan pygmy hamster to a crocodile.. do you really want him dead, or do you really want to beat up a tiny kid? ... weird

if the kid is mentally challenged (as in retardation) he shouldn't have been left alone at *any* point.
at first my gut feeling was to feed him to the croc, but as i think about it, feed the *parents* to the croc and get that kid some help.0 -

oh obviously people saying "lets throw the kid to the crocs" are way off base as well but naturally there is no excuse for a person of any age to treat ANYTHING like this, I know that at like the age of 2 right after my sister was born I knew that hurting her or anyone or anything is wrong. As for the argument of watching daddy slaughter animals, its ludicrous. even if that kind of behavior is common place then the dad is at fault for not setting the boundaries of " this is why were doing this to these animals, son , its not alright to do it anywhere else." and if anything kids that grow up on ranches and farms have MORE respect and love for animals then most people because of being raised around them.{if (work != 0) {
